The Oct. 9 letter was released by the White House on Wednesday as Trump battled to control the political damage following his decision to pull U.S. troops out of northern Syria, clearing the way for the Turkish incursion against America’s Kurdish allies.

The letter tried to persuade Erdogan to reverse a decision to invade Syria that Erdogan told Trump about in an Oct 6 phone call.

“Let’s work out a good deal!” Trump said. “You don’t want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don’t want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy - and I will.”


This guy does realise he's President right.


But then again like Morrison and Johnson what is it with world leaders not acting statesmenlike.

Yes, but Mr Trump always said he'd fail spectacularly, Greggery. That's his masterful strategy, remember. Getimpeached, do a few years in jail, and come out stronger and better for it.

The superior man is always willing to take adversity "head on". He sees this as applying the "evolutionary blowtorch". It's why the "narrow path to success" is rarely taken.

The one about the Churchill bust always cracks me up. It wasn't "returned" - it was moved from inside the Oval Office to outside the office by the door (where anyone who entered couldn't help but see it) and was replaced with a bust of MLK inside the office, which was entirely appropriate for a black president. The other Churchill bust, which was owned by the British government, was simply on loan and that loan expired in 2009 so it was returned ...
