I've worked for ISPs in the past,we've had to keep EVERYTHING, even before the mandatory data retention laws, and now it's even worse. VPNs can help, but I doubt most use them, and they're not fool proof. Just some food for thought.

The charges related to claims the man had been making false allegations about sexual assault and child abuse. And this decade-long intimidation campaign was carried out via email, social media, text and phone messages.

And he said it would target “lone actors”, who are obsessed with public figures, as well as ideologies or beliefs.

Of course, as yet, no one has turned up to parliament with a bill that puts thoughtcrimes on the law books. However, proactively locating individuals before they perpetrate any criminal acts certainly sounds a lot like Orwell’s dystopian vision.

This is usually the position of right-wingers, standing up for "free speech" when they're being racist or bigots, but I'm sure you've seen the same people calling for the "greenies who were shipped in to yell at the Prime Minister when he was touring bushfire affected regions" to be jailed?  So much for free speech...

Same goes for most of the concern about these "thought crimes".

Anyway, some of this information is online, about those being watched, but most aren't.  I googled some prominent groups, contacted them expressing concern about certain website which started a back and forth and I was able to get a few of those staff to reveal that they are "aware" and "watching" sites like OzPol.

Most of them these days are focused on Twitter on social media, but I'd still heed the warning.

I think you draw a long bow sad... like we all do from time to time....mainly when we want support for our argument..... if we shut down FOS...simply because we dont happen to get on with a person.....is not democracy.. when you become a mod    you have your own little empire....it can become very quickly a dictatorship...

we have so many rules now    and its taking our self responsibility away from us.......behavior is becoming worse because we think someone else is monitoring us........being banned is like being find.. its a tsk tsk moment..

The difference is, I support their free speech even if I don't agree with what they're saying.

Not to generalise, but it is true that right wingers especially, although it is not limited to them, when they complain about free speech they don't mean they're not allowed to say their racist and bigoted things, they are, but they want to say them without consequence.

And at the same time, the moment someone is saying something they don't like, they try to shutdown the debate or deplatform them, just like they accuse the left.

Free speech doesn't mean people have to listen to you, agree with you, or you can say what you want without having to take ownership of what you've said.  And on the flip side, people don't have a right "not to be offended" so trying to shutdown others on that alone is bullshit.

Yeah, anti semitism is so bad that when there's an alleged 'anti semitic attack', people sit back and eye roll, waiting for it to be revealed that the attacker was in fact a jew, as is so often the case

After what happened in NZ a year ago I'm sure authorities are keeping an eye on right wing extremist forums.

People, depending on their temperament, are sometimes prone to heated comment.  They may have PTSD, for example.  If government feels entitled to employ wannabee 'intelligence operatives' to monitor the public which pays them, then govt. better be able to justify that expense and invasion of the public's privacy.  And they can't

At the same time, govt. is bringing into this country-towns-streets tens of thousands of individuals who ARE justified in hating the Australian public through Aussie troops participation in wars which have nothing to do with Australia.  And yet, when govt. snoops bug those migrants' communications, etc. and actually arrest and charge those people --- they're usually dismissed with a bit of a warning and put back on the streets again

So watch lists compiled by those trying to play Speech and Thought police just because people don't like the snoops or approve of their comments and actions --- are the province of the mentally-ill and paranoid.  And they need to be formally warned that invasion of people's privacy by whatever means, is a punishable offence. Then they need to get busy remediating their own thoughts and behaviours so that people will not be motivated to criticise them

She was bugging me about some oz politics dude who goes by the forum ID PZ something or rather. It was in relation to  some very suspicious sexual activities he was practising at night. The word transvestism was brought up in passing. Also she mentioned PZ.... in relation to  gaffer tape and pet store purchased rabbits. Pecca also came up.

I never meant this is a fringe topic, it was just a statement of fact, there is nothing conspiratorial or the like about it, but at least it's got some tractions I guess.

Hopefully, people will keep it in mind when they're posting.  I have no special powers but in an effort to see what personal information I'd put out there, without trying too hard I've been able to find the identity of 3 other posters on here.  I'm not going to say who they are or how I did it, but if I can do it without the aid of law enforcement, others can too.
