Title: Easter Post by greggerypeccary on Apr 6th, 2020 at 10:36am How many arseholes are going to ignore the advice to stay home and not go away on holiday this Easter? I predict there'll still be a mass exodus from Perth to Mandurah/Bunbury/Busselton this Friday. Thankfully, they can't go to Esperance. "The Premier also officially announced a ban on travelling to the south coast town of Esperance, except for essential travel." |

I thought STAY HOME meant just that?.... no!

Telling Western Australians NOT to go south for the Easter weekend is like telling gun nuts they can't go hunting. I predict trouble this weekend. |

I don't believe they can go from Perth to Bunbury or Busselton either? They're outside the Perth/Peel region.

Some of those people live for the annual trip south at Easter. It's the highlight of their year. I can't see them obeying the rules. The cops should put in road blocks at Baldivis and Rockingham, and send them all home. |
Title: Re: Easter Post by Carl D on Apr 6th, 2020 at 11:06am
Lots of fines will be handed out this weekend, I'm sure.
https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/department-of-the-premier-and-cabinet/covid-19-coronavirus-regional-travel-restrictions The police will be no doubt hearing excuses like "Oh, I didn't know" and "That's not fair". Just like the idiots who refused to stay inside when they were supposed to be in self quarantine. The only way some people learn is by being hit in the hip pocket with hefty fines. And, that doesn't even work for some. |
Title: Re: Easter Post by Captain Caveman on Apr 6th, 2020 at 11:34am
We learnt along time ago never to go away on holidays at Easter.
I thought most holiday destinations etc. were closed. Around brisbane they are. |
Title: Re: Easter Post by Gnads on Apr 6th, 2020 at 12:17pm
A lot of the popular camping spots on the Fraser Coast, Rainbow Beach, Double Island Point to Noosa Nth Shore have had access roads blocked.
But we'll see if that stops them. |

Gee Pecca makes Perthese people sound like they would scurry over the hills to get away at Easter, even though all the roads out have experienced land-slides and are blocked.
Can see the Police and their Dogs out scouring the ranges chasing Perthese migrating to their Holiday destinations. |
Title: Re: Easter Post by greggerypeccary on Apr 8th, 2020 at 6:23pm To all the people getting upset just because they can't drive south for the Easter weekend: |
Title: Re: Easter Post by Carl D on Apr 8th, 2020 at 6:44pm
Hope they're using concrete barriers to stop people driving south for Easter here in WA.
In Queensland, they were using water filled barriers until this started happening: http://www.mygc.com.au/concrete-barriers-installed-at-border-to-stop-people-entering-qld/ Some people will just refuse to do the right thing, even if its for their own (and, everyone else's) good. |

Well, looks like you were right, Greg.
In today's West Australian newspaper they're saying it looks like people are already flocking to the south west in contravention of the new travel restrictions. A lot of them seem to be surfers and apparently they're using back roads and lesser known routes to avoid the roadblocks. Checks of number plates in Busselton and a few of the popular surfing places in the south west show a lot of people are down there who shouldn't be. Sometimes you really can't fix stupidity or careless attitudes even with the threat of hefty fines. |

I didn't want to be, but I knew I would. Telling people in Perth that they can't go south on a long weekend is simply not an option. I hope the people who have broken the rules are treated very harshly, and have their entire weekends ruined as a result. |

wouldnt you know?..
Embattled Minister Don Harwin has urgently returned to Sydney apologising to the Premier and the people of Sydney. The Arts Minister was caught staying at his Pearl Beach holiday home on the Central Coast despite repeated government pleas for Sydneysiders to stay out of regional NSW to avoid the spread of the virus. Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was “disappointed” - despite knowing two days ago of Mr Harwin’s arrangements before The Daily Telegraph revealed them. if he doesnt get a fine like we peasants would....then we know who Gladys is really looking after.. |

"New Zealand’s health minister has been demoted after he ignored national lockdown rules and drove his family to a beach 20km from his home. Last week Dr David Clark was photographed going for a mountain bike ride 2km away from his Dunedin home.
Ardern responded swiftly to Clark’s revelation, stripping him of his associate finance minister portfolio and demoting him to the bottom of the cabinet rankings. Political commentators say it is likely Clark will lose the health portfolio when the coronavirus crisis is resolved,".. |

Harsh words from the Grapplar.
Poor spoilt Millenials who have known only peace, TV wars and slow downloading times. Now have the most horrific time ahead. The Virus that crept into our lives, the Economy bankrupt and the Great Nuclear War that will take the lives of Billions. This is the Veilfall. This is when the Millenials will rise to the occassion like no other generation and take the bull by the horns. They will have no other choice. Hiding behind a red curtain won't get it over and done with. They will leave 'us' behind - trapped beneath the Veilfall, trapped in time while they progress ahead... free. This is the New Age on the horizon. Those that can see it, will survive the destruction of the old. |

Trump shows the world that even a young Ranga boy of America. Can rise to the challenge, like a kid from the streets, to hold the position of the most powerful in the USA and to turn to the 'Powers that be' to "Get stuffed" >:( - he's in charge now and he's bringing down the old.
...because it's a Blonde Aryan Angel Man that becomes the President that shows the New Age. ;) |

Hmmm... wouldn't have anything to do with him being the Fremantle Dockers captain, would it? I bet the average Joe would have been fined or given a warning at the very least. In other news I read in the paper earlier this week there were plans to restart the AFL season as soon as possible (within a week or two) and exempt players from interstate quarantine requirements. There were a few WTF??? type letters to the editor in the following days saying "why?" One letter said football is not an "essential service" and what's the point having all these border closures and lockdowns, etc. if the AFL players can travel interstate every week with no restrictions or quarantine? Looks like common sense may have prevailed (for now) and they'll have a plan ready by the end of this month and they're looking at maybe resuming the season before the end of July. |

Quite a FEW - apparently Daylesford, in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range, is an hour-and-a-half's drive from the centre of Melbourne. It has a population of about 2,500, and, according to AirDNA market analytics, 500 active Airbnb rentals. The local shire has two confirmed coronavirus cases, but that could soon change. As with other small towns near big cities, many who live there permanently want tourists and travellers to stay away. However, many also rely on tourists for income. In the past week, conflict over whether to keep tourists away has come to a head. On the town's Facebook forum, some landlords have proposed encouraging people from Melbourne to come stay if they need to self-isolate. "Locals are going, 'Hang on what if those are people who might have the virus?'" a resident and non-landlord told Hack. "What if we're walking past them in the supermarket?" "People are swearing at each other and yelling at each other. The Shire has closed down caravan parks as well as other public facilities but otherwise has no power to stop people entering Daylesford. The mayor said landlords should cancel bookings but that was ultimately up to them under the current restrictions. "With Easter coming, it would be preferable for people to stay home," she said. The local hospital has 18 beds and no intensive care unit, meaning an outbreak could rapidly overwhelm its resources. https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/programs/hack/coronavirus-covid-19-daylesford-airbnb-neighbours-scared/12107494 So, from two infections in the shire, today - we're potentially looking at thousands over the next few weeks |
