I have run a positive campaign outlining my experience and knowledge. We do enjoy our companion animals—but they are animals, operating on instinct far more than we do! A big dog can do a lot of damage to someone but so can small dogs and cats especially to kids!

So exercise your dogs, socialise them by walking, keep them off the furniture—that is them exerting dominance!

He really was on the ball about dog behaviour. Humans need to be the "pack leader" around dogs.

So called "obedience schools" are not really doing a good job. Dog psychology is the key.  8-)

Why do I want the Modship? Why do I persist?

I love sharing knowledge! That is it in a nutshell. Companion animals are great: can provide some security, can help relieve stress (stroke a cat for a while, blood pressure and pulse rate etc have relaxed into healthy states, a mutt can provide plenty of laughs and so on.

Our pets have needs—and teeth and claws! Know how they tick, bit of training, walking in the case of dogs, a bit sensible about dogs and young children and no problems. How to be sensible, how to walk a dog so it is a pleasure not a pain (seen plenty of people trying to walk their dog, no control, unsuitable lead etc etc, a pain not pleasure.)

If you can possibly change your vote to a vote for me I will be humbled and pleased—and try to run this board as it should be run. That is all I want.

The elections so far have been disasters for the most part. I did advocate that:

1. Each candidate puts up a platform.

2. Voting is done by Members posting “I vote for XYZ”

But nah, couldn’t listen to me, eh?

I have also suggested that a board like music, on over 8000 posts, deserves a much better position than outright bottom of the list of MRBs.

Sport is another excellent MRB. I don’t think I have contributed any posts there, sport not being my thing, but I see a constant stream of posts there!

I’m still unable to get another dog, trying to get over my grief since Hutchy was euthanised. I took him to the wrong person, I found out they call that vet Dr. Death, so you can imagine my heartbreak, my guilt, my regret.
My daughter keeps sending me cute dog pictures to cheer me up.

After an Australian terrier, a chihuahua and another little terrier I was thinking of a bigger dog—but if it jumped up at Mum in greeting it could knock her down. So another small dog and if so then a terrier, mix of 2-3 terriers, a mongrel. Will get it from the pound, hopefully.

I think it was me that brought it up when I saw the numbers.. my immediate thought was impossible...

even with socks...

I think 6 months is a bit short  people do get sick or move  and then restart.. but at least 12 months of not posting......

I will keep that in mind, but I must say, Hutchy was unique, he was a Maltese x shitzu and for some reason, grew double the size of his siblings.
He had a lot of character and attitude, didn’t like people, except for us, and was an incredible protector and watch dog.
Yet very loving, aware and responsive.
When my son took him to puppy school, he was the smartest one there.
I always loved the “let’s shake hands” trick.
And when putting food in bowl, telling him to wait, and his eyes fixed on the food, waiting for the okay word.

We put up a doggie door as we looked after him in the last two years, and my sons wife would make some smart comment that her dads Bichon Frise (being a very young dog) worked out the doggy door quickly.
Well, it took Hutchy less than a day n half to work it out.
Huh, so there!
Such bitchin snobbery amongst some dog owners eh 😏
And he loved listening to music too.
I took a video of it thank goodness. My son asked me how do I know,
I explained and showed the video.
Also, he wanted to “talk” .... so cute, dog trying to talk.
So much I can say of the amazing and funny times of our lives with Hutchy.
Whenever we went to visit my son and his wife, I would greet a joyful happy Hutchy first 😂 I mean, that’s acceptable behaviour isn’t it?

I was absent for 2 years away from any forum, just the way I felt because of the way “life happens”.
I came back January this year, and so my opinion is.... I was still a registered member and felt the need to come back in.... just because.
And the ability and choice was still available to do so.

Old members can come back anytime and their contribution welcomed, whether little posting, or constant posting, horses for courses.
Whatever inspires one, so be it.

If you look at the date I joined, the amount of posts I have made, it’s not a lot is it? Compared to other posters I’m a small time poster, but I think... maybe it’s quality over quantity 🤗😂, or maybe just commenting in forum topics that interest or inspire me, which I pick and choose, and try to keep on topic? I’m not so knowledgeable on all the forum topics, but I’m willing to read and learn quietly without posting.
Commenting or posting too much is too much noise in my head, so I like reading quietly to ponder about what is written.
I wasn’t here earlier, I’m here now, who knows where I will be in future, I think of myself as either/or being consistently inconsistent, or inconsistently consistent 🤗
If voting brings past forum members alive and inspired to post again, like a forgotten art of expression, then why not?

There are ALWAYS sock votes in these elections. I think Blight lost about six sock votes in Fringe. A couple sock votes were removed Saturday, more to be removed yet. Even real elections have some degree of fraud.

Cods, you have posted, here, enough information about yourself and your Family (age, Foreign Affairs, Copper, grandson, Canberra...even the suburb.... etc) that if an arsehole had a mind to, they would easily establish who you are etc.

Does that they don't like you, make it right for them to post the details, and far worse, distort the actual facts.  No it does not.  Your persistence with that excuse for what Neferti did is a lingering concern here at OzPol.  For me, it always suggests you have no idea, and perhaps if it was done to you and your Family, only then will you get to understand the point.  It is not about the victim, it is about the arsehole perpetrator and what THEY did.

True, obedience clubs teach the mechanics of obedience mainly. That was alright for classes 1-3 but when the training was going OK I had to know more. Might see if I can find some links of good books and post them over the next few days—not heavy tomes, not needed, but some understanding of Fido’s drives to get some clues to his behavior might be handy.

I also found hanging around after the meeting with some of the instructors got some good info.
