Either film or book version, which do you like more? The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit.

The Lord of the Rings is my choice. (Happy that the movie left Tom Bombadil out of the story though.) ;D

I started to finally read my Lord of the Rings textbook for the first time in the ten years that I bought it. I was thoroughly amazed at the thoroughness of the writing. It is no surprise that the three movies were about 150 minutes each. Having got as far as the 4 travelers meeting Farmer Maggot (not mentioned in the movie), you put down the book to think that you have already read a story in itself. I have read a few chapters per night. But I stopped to go watch the bluray movies I had in my collection. I will have to rewatch the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I was never focused on watching the whole movie as my mind wandered, or I was busy on my phone Facebooking. However, the movie was a wonder to behold. Even the computer-generated imagery was stunning. You can pick out the flaws of the movie. But it was a good blend of special effects. I have started watching the Hobbit trilogy. I was watching the second movie last night until I drifted off for 10 minutes. Then I decided to finish the movie tonight. I did notice that the first movie had the dinner scene with the dwarves at Bilbo's place. When Gandalf showed up, the scenes had to be cut in such a way that Gandalf (McKellan) looked to be standing on something to make him look taller. Or there was a scene where Bilbo was walking away from Gandalf after discussing the contract about how Bilbo could not join Gandalf on the quest. That scene you could just make out that Martin Freeman (Bilbo) was on a stage and then superimposed into the scene where McKellan (Gandalf) was on set. This was to seamlessly make it look like Bilbo was almost 5 ft tall and Gandalf over 6ft tall. Visually impressive movies. |

I have no doubt that the books are better than the movies.
And I have no doubt that The Lord of the Rings movie is better than The Hobbit movie. |
Title: Re: Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit? Post by greggerypeccary on Aug 4th, 2024 at 12:38pm I tried reading the books, but they bored me. I tried watching the movies, but they bored me even more. I know I'm the odd person out, but I just don't see the appeal :-/ |
