Title: Virtually Nobody Post by greggerypeccary on Sep 23rd, 2020 at 6:39am Trump said coronavirus "affects virtually nobody". Meanwhile, in the US: 6,890,000 cases 205,000 deaths (including his own brother) |
Title: Re: Virtually Nobody Post by greggerypeccary on Sep 23rd, 2020 at 7:04am Only 4% of the world's population, yet the US has 22% of all COVID deaths. Well done, Trump. |

You really do need to get over your fixation with Trump.
Do you genuflect toward your bust of him every night still??? |

Alan Jones says:
He said politicians have “thrived on fear” and that is why they have never once said 99 per cent of cases are mild. https://www.skynews.com.au/details/_6193370388001 |

Probably so, but I could never stand Alan Jones and now find that Bolt is beginning to droan on and on and on. I've given up on watching Sky News in the evening and have it on "mute" during the day, after I have seen what the News is for the day. I don't want to smash my TV with something I throw at it. ;) I refuse to watch Your ABC News or anything on that channel. ;D |

give SBS a try they have more international news I find..
the news is so gloom and doom it gets me down sometimes... its the same here...all negatives yet here we are all with a roof over our heads.cars in garages more than one TV set and computer..food to waste...we really go without nothing! yet its not good enough .. when we get through this it will become a distant memory for most of us.....but only if we allow it to..... and god help us if we dont learn from it... I can see a lot of people thinking they all of us can go back to living how its was.....I dont think> |

When it becomes as bad as the US, I guess. The United States - under Trump - is the worst COVID affected country in the world. He lied and did nothing, and as a result his own brother and more than 200,000 other Americans are dead. He has so much blood on his tiny little hands. |

Ah, no. The US is not the same as here. The United States - under Trump - is the worst COVID affected country in the world. We are one of the least affected. The blame for the United States' terrible handling of the COVID pandemic lies completely with Trump. His apathy, lies, inaction and incompetence has resulted in the deaths of over 200,000 Americans. There is nobody else to blame but Trump. |

yet you refuse to acknowledge that small detail... I agree he has said some stoopid things....rather than cause PANIC....I get that but you sheet all the blame to him which show you need help sunshine. |

A real leader knows how to handle a crisis without creating panic. That's actually Trump's job, and he failed miserably at it. There weren't just two options: 1) create panic, 2) do nothing and lie. There was a third option: 3) act like a leader, take control, inform & reassure the public with the truth without causing hysteria. What most other world leaders did. He chose option 2. He downplayed the virus at the beginning and then, when it became obvious just how bad it was getting, he openly encouraged people to gather in large crowds, ignore social distancing rules, and to not wear a mask. He is 100% to blame for the position America is now in. He and he alone is responsible for his brother's death, and the deaths of more than 200,000 more Americans. If he's re-elected in November, he'll probably go on to kill at least two or three million innocent people. |

Nothing to do with them. Trump lied to the American people, not the Governors. Trump downplayed the virus, not the Governors. Trump told people not to wear masks, not the Governors. Trump encouraged people to gather in large crowds, not the Governors. Trump told people to inject themselves with bleach, not the Governors. Trump said that there were only 15 cases and that it would soon be zero, not the Governors. Trump said that the virus would miraculously disappear in April, not the Governors. Trump said that it affects virtually nobody, not the Governors. |
Title: Re: Virtually Nobody Post by polite_gandalf on Sep 23rd, 2020 at 10:24am
Trump seems to be tripping over himself to find the right narative.
He knows he stuffed it up at the beginning by trivialising it and insisting it would all be over soon. Now he knows that it is not trivial, and has devastated real communities - not least of all key parts of his own base. So he somehow has to find a way of saying "yeah ok its bad - but my dismissive attitude at the beginning still wasn't wrong". So we get the confused language we are hearing now: - some people really are badly affected - it has had a real impact on communities - still, it only affects the very old and people with pre-existing conditions - therefore, it affects "virtually nobody" in short, a bizarre combination of "its bad and we need to take it seriously - but we can still trivialise it by focusing on how many people will actually be hit (directly) by the virus" |

Yep. He's really struggling. His "speeches" are getting more and more bizarre. Not only is he struggling to find a narrative, but he's also fumbling over very basic words - even his own name. There's no doubt in my mind that he did indeed suffer a series of mini-strokes back when he was unexpectedly rushed to hospital last year (?). |
Title: Re: Virtually Nobody Post by Captain Caveman on Sep 23rd, 2020 at 10:46am
His brother died from bleeding on the brain as a result from a fall he had.
Plenty of articles stating it. No articles state anything remotely close to death from covid. Don't see why you have to keep lying about it. ;D |
Title: Re: Virtually Nobody Post by greggerypeccary on Sep 23rd, 2020 at 10:59am Captain Caveman wrote on Sep 23rd, 2020 at 10:46am:
Nope. Incorrect. The articles say he died after he had a fall and bleeding on the brain. They don't, however, say the fall or the bleeding was the cause of his death. Elvis died after taking a dump, but his cause of death wasn't defecation. |

Indeed. The point is, however, that nobody is saying that the fall or the bleeding on the brain actually caused his death. Don't you think it's interesting that there is no official cause of death, and that Mr. Trump could only manage to spare ten minutes for his brother's funeral? |
