Must admit I only visit one winery in the Barossa: Saltrams.

Another winery with a great restaurant—present the receipt for your lunch and get huge discount on wine purchases at the cellar door!

(There is a great, very produce-driven restaurant in the Barossa Valley. Can‘t even think of the name of it—have only visited once, will do a review on this soon.)

I used to be a member of the Number 1 club there, went to 3-4 of their open days. The chief winemaker is there the whole day and we have done things like visit a vineyard and taste the grapes, do our own blending of 2-3 wines and one memorable day they had dug deep into their library and we tasted wines (Cab Sauv) all the way back to 1979 (some ‘brown notes’ but not too deeply oxidised.) Fantastic experience! Learning!

A famous name in the Barossa is Wolf Blass. Rather an amazing career:
