I am in two minds about this and have been having a look around.

Anyone who is disabled or who loves someone with a disability knows what that word means because they will have heard it used about them abusively at some stage. Along with "retard" and "spaz", it's a prominent verbal feature of the bullies' toolkit.

Spot on.

Also a feature of the lapdogs of bullies, e.g. Booby.

If we had GMods worthy of the name use of the word would have been stamped out long ago, instead one GMod, lapdog of the bullies, uses the word himself. Pisspoor modding by any definition.

Well, to be honest, you too have used it, but you have obviously seen that as an error.

Used it in retaliation—it is so booooooringg! But eventually saw what it meant and stopped using it.

Pity the bullies and their lapdogs don’t realise it makes THEM look bad. And makes OzPol look bad.

I offer critiques at time—that is called attacking OzPol. What nonsense. Use of the word “Mon•” hurts OzPol and the people using that word.

As with all things in life, context and situation matter.

Monk is called Mong because it's a one letter change nickname, and he carries on like a porkchop so it's fitting. Mong himself used the word extensively so it could be said he brought the nickname on himself.

I personally would never use the word verbally and I suspect few people here would,  and I actually only started using it here after I learned of Mong's hypocrisy of suddenly deciding he didn't like it.

Using it on Ozpol doesn't worry me in the slightest because let's be honest, this place isn't for the faint-hearted and anyone who is offended by the word Mong will be scared off by plenty of other stuff.

Now Aussie, after you shouted 'which retard' in a school playground attended by special needs kids, have you seen that as an error just as you're giving Mong the benefit of the doubt over his extensive use of the word mong?

Do you consider yourself a bully, Gordon, or a lapdog of bullies?

You do play up to the grub AiA so it looks like you are more a lapdog.

On top of that you have the emotional maturity of a 3yo spoiled todler.

Bullies target the weak, my targets here are probably the most capable.

Mong, are you a hysterical arm flapping unstable homosexual drunkard?

No.  And for reasons I am sick and tired of explaining.  It seems not to matter what the facts are, the idiots here will go out of their way to misconstrue them.

Let's deal with the word 'mong.'

Use verbally used the word retard in either the presence of mentally challenged kids and in the presence of their school mates. You taught them that using it is perfectly acceptable.

That right there is off the scale compared to use calling someone Mong on this very narrowly viewed forum.

The fact you see nothing wrong with it speaks volumes about your narcissistic personality. Typical arsehole cam do no wrong lawyer.

I'm out, let Mong run some more interference for you.

I'll declare my hand.

I regard use of the word as so offensive that I am seriously considering banning its use here in Relationships.

Gordon has explained why.

It is a specific, deliberate, targetted grossly abusive attack on a single Member, because, as Gordon admits, it merely, he says, is a change of one letter in the word, Monk.  That is the very essence of why I am considering banning its use.

Retard, moron etc are distinguished on that basis.  I might need to consider the word 'Booby' as well, for the same reason.

It's bad enough we have a useless swear filter that does nothing except force people to be more creative.

You know Childeric the Frankish king many years ago publicly mourned not having any family, the fact he had murdered all the family he knew about made people and historians wonder about his motives.

Wouldn't a wannabe dictatorship want to know who it's opposition was? Like Childeric, is not a public call the best way to find enemies you never knew you had?

The word Mong is derived from Mongoloid. A word attributed to the Mongoloidal people of Asia who are genetically distanced by the more Caucasoid Europeans, Middle-Easterners and Indians.
Originally used as a derogatory name for 'Asians' - especially the Mongols and Chinese. The 'Mong' being a less intelligent species. So there is no real 'disability' about the word Mong, beyond any put down for being an 'aussie' by the British wealthy.

Ironic that this Topic is a complaint by two 'hyprocrits' - but they are admitting to the error of their ways... even if somewhat restrained. Monk started the word 'Mong'. Aussie started the word 'Retard'. Now they both get punished by other members for using it. Thrown back at them.

Now Aussie is begging for the other Members to stop. :-X
Aussie is in tears now. :'(
Aussie wants to be forgiven by Master Light. :-[

Merry Xmas to Monk's favorite lapdog.

It seems that the word Mong outdates the existence of the words that are objectionably related.

Derivatives after the fact.

In the 1780's the 3 types of humans were believed to be Caucasoid, Mongoloid, and Negroid. Then you have the Mongols Genghis Khan etc back to the 1100's. The unfortunately named medical condition which ended in the 1960's is much later.
