Title: Fffffreezing morning! How’s the weather there?
Post by Lols on Jun 29th, 2021 at 10:25am
I had to go out in early morning daybreak to take extra photos of a car we are selling… (buyer enquiry) and any water sitting around was iced over… sun shining though. But bitingly chilly. My hands froze holding camera.
Water pipes to house frozen but will thaw eventually.
What fun opening a water tap and nil water shows up  ;D

Well that’s the Melbourne outter zone in “them thar hills” for ya!

How’s the winter weather there, where you are?

Siberia. The tundra peat is burning, can't breathe with methane and toxic oil-fields smoke. Mosquitos the size of rats, running deer frightening me and melting sea-ice in the kitchen. Not too bad.

Little bit 'warmer' this morning in Perth but its been raining overnight (still is). I think it got down to about 10 or 11 degrees this morning which is better than the 1's, 2's and 3's we had last week caused by cold southerly winds coming up from Antarctica.

I had to remove ice from my car windscreen when I went out at 8am last Wednesday morning (it isn't parked under cover).

My car was covered in frost this morning -
in the East of Melbourne.

The BOM app reckons it's 14, but I', walking around in a tshirt. It's been raining hard all morning but it's just stopped and I can see a bit of blue sky.

On the plus side, I had to go to 3 different addresses right in the CBD this morning. It was bleak, dark and empty and I managed to park right in front of each appointment in loading zones, no ticket. I usually charge $30 extra for CBD addresses, should I still charge it? FrickYEAH

The lowest it got down to last night was 15 degrees. I went for a walk around the neighbourhood at 5 am. The wind was blowing quite strongly. It felt a good few degrees colder.

I got up for a piss at 5am (thanks to the diuretic I'm on).

Cold as a witch's tit, it was.

Did my business, turned the heater on in the lounge-room and
went straight back to bed til 7.

I still sleep in my underwear, even during the winter. It would take a night below 10 degrees before I would get cotton pants and a light shirt to sleep in.

Nah.

I live on the Central Coast.

We are up here at the moment looking after an infirm relative, until we can get her into a home.

Poor dears husband died in Feb, she is a diabetic with serious osteoarthritis and had dementia pretty bad.

She needs full time care, forgets what she has taken and when and can either overdose or forget to take her medicine.

When we first came up, she was in a bad way, no one to look after her she was doing the wrong things and was hospitalized.

It took us two months to get her back to health, now we just need a full care home to become available.

It took her over a month to remember that her husband died, every morning she was looking for him.

Its really messing up my poor wife, its her mother.

That’s one of the saddest things I’ve heard  :-[
Blessings. Glad you are looking after her.

Unfortunately, such is life.

After my mother died, my father mourned her every day until his death.
On his death bed he said he was looking forward to seeing mom again.

Funny thing though.
After we got home from the father in laws funeral and the mother in law was put to bed for the night.
My wife walked up behind me and smacked me across the back of the head.

I said whats that for.
She said, don't you ever do that to me.

My youngest daughter (26) keeps telling us we have to live forever.
Because she said neither of one of us can live without the other and she will not have either of us dying.
Its just not going to happen she says.

But we have had a good life and in 30 or 40 years (I hope) we will probably die.

With the rain going on in CQ and the very cold weather down south, I would expect Monday's 11 degrees minimum temperature in Rockhampton to be at least 2 degrees too high. Tuesday's minimum might get down to 5 degrees at least.

Yeah, I know. I figure (other than the next few days) the winter is just about over. It will be spring by August.

OMG Melbourne is so icy last couple days!!

Chill to the bone. Fireplace is barely keeping room from chilling!
Outside is like stepping into a freezer!
This is when it’s a problem with a lot of heaters used that may cause fires mid winter in Melbourne. Hope not. It’s them little electric fan heaters some use in bedrooms that could be problematic.

I was not ready for 10 degrees this morning. 14 when I went to bed.

Melbourne has my pity. It does not look like the place is freezing cold. But the rain would make it worse being that the temperatures have gotten down to 2 degrees.

Absolutely pissed down in Perth yesterday afternoon.

Had water lapping at my front and back doors.

Haven't seen flash flooding like that for quite some time.

I'll have to clean up all the fallen branches and damage from the storm today.

Not complaining though - love this weather.

45 mm is a pretty decent rainfall for 24 hours. The other day, we (Rockhampton) had 25 mm of rain and I thought that was reasonable for our dry season.

The majority of the 45mm we had on sunday came down in just one hour, between 2 and 3 pm.

I was getting rather nervous seeing the water rapidly rising and approaching my doors.

Thankfully it stopped about 2mm from the bottom of each door - it was close.

Most of the water drained away by about 4pm, so all good now, but it certainly was a decent downpour.

You got 20 mm of rain in 2 hours in Perth. Which part of Perth are you from?

Right near the Perth CBD - Victoria Park.

I reckon we got 30mm in just one hour.
