Morrison must act as new report shows window for limiting warming to 1.5 degrees almost closed (1)
Prime Minister Morrison must act immediately to increase Australia’s ambition on climate change and support a just transition for Australian workers as the UN International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) science report found that the last decade was hotter than any period in the past 125,000 years.

This report is the culmination of five years of assessment, writing, review, and approval processes from 234 leading scientists from more than 60 countries.

The report found that Australia has already experienced 1.4 C° warming and faces a future of more extreme bushfire weather, flooding, marine heatwaves that will bleach coral reefs and lower winter rainfall in our major cities and agricultural regions.

Without ambitious global action to reduce emissions warming is projected to spiral out of control and make parts of Australia intolerable by people, agriculture, and wildlife.

Yes, well ... all well and good for Australia to "act immediately on Climate Change", but that in and of itself will do bugger all to solve Global Warming.

The whole world, and especially those arseholes: US; China; Russia and India need to do the heavy lifting.

or maybe because if china stopped supplying to the likes of Gerry Harvey and the rest of the import junkies all of these western businesses would go bust overnight so we can't have that happen to old gerry can we :D LOL

The IPCC has finally brought down the ECS for doubling of CO2. However they also upped the most likely from 2.7- 7.1C per doubling.

The Summary for Policymakers - the government wonks, who change what is said in he technical report changed some things from "medium confidence" to "high confidence".

At least one site has said that Australia has already reached +1.4C; so in only 0.1C we are all gunna fry.Of course that's an average for all of Australia. So some place near you must have increased by that average - right?  ::)

The IPCC did come out and say  RCP 8.5 and SSP3-7.0 are implausible. They then mention RCP8.5 and SSP3-7.0 53% of the time against. Talk about skewed. But according to the IPCC that is a "neutral" position. The most likely rate 18%.

Greenhouse gas emissions continue to grow as increases from developing economies swamp cuts from the developed world.

Out of total annual global emissions from fossil fuels of 36.4 billion tonnes, China emits 10.2 billion tonnes. The US is the next biggest emitter with 5.4 billion tonnes, then the EU with 2.9 billion, India 2.6 billion, Russia 2.4 billion and Japan 1.3 billion. Rest of the world combined- same as China.

The USA produces far too much for a population of only 330 million.
