Title: TAFE Has Suffered $3 Billion In Funding Cuts
Post by whiteknight on Aug 16th, 2021 at 12:40pm
TAFE cuts are exacerbating the ECEC workforce crisis, AEU says   :(
AUGUST 12, 2021
The Sector.

The early childhood education and care (ECEC) sector is one of several sectors and industries being placed in jeopardy by cuts to the TAFE system, the Australian Education Union (AEU) has said.

Along with ECEC, IT, carpentry and plumbing are at risk of significant workforce shortages, the Union said, which may in turn undermine the strength of Australia’s COVID-19 economic recovery.

An investment in TAFE, AEU Deputy Federal President Meredith Peace said, will ensure that there is a sustainable supply of highly trained workers as well as supporting people to gain the skills they require to get good jobs.

“TAFE has suffered over $3 billion in Federal Government funding cuts since 2013,” Ms Peace added, sharing her belief that poor quality training alternatives are contributing to challenges faced in ECEC and other sectors, with these alternatives being funded by the Government, rather than TAFE receiving the funding.   :(

“TAFE is the centre of our vocational education system. Public TAFE institutions are ideally placed to train the workforces our nation needs to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic,” she added.

The Federal Government’s Skills Priority List shows 153 professions with current workforce shortages and projects an additional 144 will experience moderate to strong levels of future demand by 2025, including ECEC.

Ms Peace’s comments were made on National TAFE Day, acknowledged on 11 August, with the Union inviting the community to support its Rebuild with TAFE campaign and sign an open letter to the Prime Minister calling for a guaranteed minimum of 70 per cent of total government funding for the public TAFE system.

“In order to ensure these sectors and industries have the highly trained workforce they require to function effectively, Australia requires a properly funded TAFE system,” Ms Peace said.

“Without proper investment in TAFE, the Federal Government will fail to provide the education and training workers need to get real jobs. They will also fail to ensure critical industries have the highly skilled workforces they need to deliver the services we all rely on.   :(

Ownership Matters found that ASX300 companies had banked a total of $3.8bn in government subsidies in 2020. Many had positive income which is tafe Technically A False Earning.

This way the grubberment and business can "justify" bringing in more
"Skilled" immigrants at far lower wages.

Sad fact is that most of these "skilled" immigrants are useless and have purchased their qualification.

I know of companies that retrenched or sacked nearly all their Aussie workers
and got Indians to do the jobs at half the price.
They weren't very good at their jobs but
if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.
The traitor Australian bean counters in charge gave themselves a pay rise.

The companies were paying the Australian workers twice the amount they were legally required to?

I find that very hard to believe, Bobby.

I personally know of two companies that "retrenched" most of their tradespersons and after a month " employed" Indians and Indonesian "tradesmen"

These "tradesmen" had trouble understanding drawings and tolerance
Could not use micrometer and had no idea of how to use a verniers scale.
One even placed the part on the drawing to check it.

Their pay rates were the basic rate only, my suspicion, probably less.

The non conformance went through the roof.
It cost more to fix the problem than it woukd have to have kept the real tradesmen on.

GREED rules.

Easy.
They hire someone at a low level but with far more education and then
get them to do the work of someone
with that higher education.

example:
hire a forklift driver but get them to do
all the shipping paperwork, ordering of parts,
emailing all over the world, updating the computer accounting system,
send out invoices,
handling complex accounting packages,
Make them a health and safety officer.
Get them to do all sorts of other work as well.
But they get the minimum wage as a forklift driver.

It happens in EVERY job -
there is no such thing as being hired to do one job anymore.

Defunding TAFE should warrant a long spell in prison for whoever is/was responsible.

Permitting the sacking of qualified tradespeople and replacing them with unqualified
or under-qualified workers (whether migrant, refugees or Aussies) should also involve
a long prison sentence.

If I was interviewing an new worker, one of my first questions would be 'Where did you
get your qualifications and where did you do your training'?

If I didn't hear 'TAFE' somewhere in their reply, it would be a case of 'Thank you for
coming - don't call us, we'll call you'.

Neither are forklift drivers, Bobby.

There's very little difference in pay, if any, between an accounts officer and a forklift driver.

Don't you ever get sick of being a turd?

I have worked for 47 years, I doubt you have done a days work in your pathetic life.

I have seen many businesses as a consultant, engineer, tradesman and manager.
You have, at best, seen a chip fried.

The primary reason you disbelieve everybody.
Is that you are a total and absolute loser in life.
You judge others on your pathetic attempt at life, which is a dismal failure.

But I should not judge you harshly.
Your pathetic life must be hard enough as is.
Your toxic personality must be the result of many years of being ridiculed, laughed at and insulted. And being the pathetic tiny coward you are, you had to simply hang your head and crawl away.

Some of us have done many things.
Been many places
And have achieved things that even in your wildest dreams could never come close to.

In short, you are simply a pathetic, tiny, tiny coward who needs to make himself feel superior by putting down real people.
I feel sorry for you.
You have such a poor attitude and your life is probably the same.

I have worked with "qualified" engineers from india who had nothing more than a basic understanding of engineering and little practicle experience.
They generally don't last too long, but after a while learn to pick up on enough to bluff their way through.

I have also worked with engineers from Germany, Sweden, Finland, England and even Africa who were extremely good and knowledgeable.

If we keep bringing in semi-qualified people, any credibility will be destroyed.

A good secretary will, easily.

Another forkie-driver is pretty easy to come by.

A really good secretary, not so much.

I've known several people who've taken their secretary with them when
they changed jobs, and several secretaries who have also followed the
same boss from job to job.

And it's nothing to do with sex - they're just that highly valued.

TAFEs are even worse than the school system or even universities as far as tendentious neo-Marxist union influence is concerned.
Arfer Scargill and the Communist Party of Australia live on in TAFEs. Federal money, State Government management, education union control = perennially fccd.
