Proud Boys leader Henry 'Enrique' Tarrio sentenced to five months in prison for burning BLM banner, firearms offence ;D ;D

For burning  a BLM flag? They don't imprison for burning the American flag. But then they do imprison for burning LBTG flags. ::)

Imprisonment for having large capacity gun magazines - that I can agree with. Even though they were unloaded.

* Large capacity - over 10 rounds. Washington does not have large capacity laws.

Edit: Washington state has no restriction. District of Columbia (DC) has a 10 round limit.

No.

For burning a BLM banner, that was stolen.

He destroyed property belonging to someone else.

The fact that it was a BLM banner is irrelevant.

If it was an American flag that belonged to someone else, he still would have been charged and convicted.

Oh, and one more thing ... LOL   ;D

So why did the ABC bury that deep in the story?  Surely it should have been part of the headline? It being stolen was the germane item. ::)

He didn't steal it.

The story is about Henry 'Enrique' Tarrio, and he was convicted for destruction or property and firearms offences (not theft).

Incorrect.

If it was an American flag he would have received the same sentence.

He was convicted of damaging someone else's property - what that property actually was made no difference.

It could have been a Mickey Mouse banner - the result would have been the same.

He destroyed something that didn't belong to him.

The headline is fine.

And the outcome is fine - a scumbag goes to prison.

So what is the sentence for burning stolen property - a flag value $36 Amazon?

Or 2 large capacity magazines - $1000 fine or not exceeding 1 year imprisonment.

Nothing was entered as to being an habitual offender - so it seems likely a first offence. Not that light. ;)

What I said is that he may not have been charged with things he could have if he cooperated with authorities. He may have been in a position to give the authorities a lot of information in exchange for a lighter sentence.

He was sentenced for the things he was charged with.

In 2004, when he was 20 years old, Tarrio was convicted of theft. He was sentenced to community service and three years of probation and was ordered to pay restitution.

In 2013, Tarrio was sentenced to 30 months (of which he spent 16) in federal prison for rebranding and reselling stolen medical devices.

By what right did BLM earn a flag?

Propagandists Awake!   Even saying a person was sentenced to five months for burning a flag FIRST, when the reality is - he was convicted of destruction of property... what it was has no relevance here ... except to the propagandists and hate mongers... I suggest you read the story.

It's not a flag - it's a banner.

Moreover, whether it was a flag or a banner is completely irrelevant - it's the fact that it was someone else's property that saw him charged.

It could have been a handkerchief, a backpack, a book, a hat - it makes no difference.

He wasn't convicted on the basis of the particular type of object it was - he was convicted because it wasn't his to destroy.

And again, it was a banner not a flag.

The word 'flag' does not appear anywhere in the news article.

In fact, the headline clearly uses the word 'banner'.

So, the question has to be asked, why is everyone talking about a flag when:

a) it was never even mentioned in the article or thread title, and

b) it's completely irrelevant?

Social media users have been mocking CNN for its coverage of the violent unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the aftermath of the shooting of Jacob Blake, particularly for the network’s insistence that the situation can still be described as “peaceful.”

During CNN’s coverage on Tuesday evening, the network described the situation in a news chyron as “fiery but mostly peaceful” while a large blaze burned in the background.
