Aussie will be happy to know some kilos of fruit (glacé cherries, sultanas, raisins, currants and diced paw paw & pineapple) is soaking in 90ml of St Agnes brandy and 150ml of barleywine.

9 eggs, 500g of butter, 500g of muscovado sugar and spices, flour etc to go in tomorrow. Then 4 hours of baking—HUGE cake so long slow cooking.

It does make a massive, delicious and nourishing cake. I will take a bigger one to Tassie.

It needs feeding with brandy—I will do the first one, Aussie can do the subsequent ones.

Happy to give it a go.......TIB will not be happy that I give it a go.

Well I do...and that is why TIB knows SFA at the moment.  Ultimately, I know I will be out of the big bed and in the dog house for a while.

25 x 25cm cake tin full to the brim with fruity goodness is in da oven!

Nah, the cakes are in  the oven for four hours so no matter how you cover the top there will be some dark color on the top.

The recipe is in the Kenwood bench mixer cookbook and is a goodie, as is the stollen (German christmas bread) recipe.
