Title: Aldi Supermarket Takes The Crown Again
Post by whiteknight on Aug 25th, 2021 at 7:00am
Australia’s favourite supermarket? Aldi again beats Coles, Woolies to take the crown

August 24 2021
The New Daily

German discount chain Aldi has again beaten out Australia’s supermarket powerhouses Coles and Woolworths in the customer satisfaction stakes.

That’s according to comparison site Canstar, with Aldi taking top spot in the supermarket category of the site’s Most Satisfied Customer Awards for the eighth time in 10 years.   :)

Aldi scored five stars this year in the “overall satisfaction”, “value for money”, “freshness of fruit, vegetables and meat”, “quality of supermarket-owned branded products”, “deals/specials available” and “store layout” categories.

Woolworths came in second place, followed by Coles in third, and IGA in fourth.

Aldi topped the supermarket customer satisfaction ratings.
ALDI has previously won Canstar’s “most satisfied customers” award in 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2012.

Aldi buying director Simon Padovani-Ginies attributed this year’s win to the supermarket’s combination of quality and low prices.

“Our commitment to providing the highest-quality products at incredibly low prices is clearly resonating with our customers and is something we are extremely proud of,” Mr Padovani-Ginies said.

Aldi expands Australian offerings
The win comes as Aldi celebrates its 20th year in Australia, and begins to up the ante against Coles and Woolworths.

A new era for Aldi in Australia began in July, with the discount supermarket chain launching its first smaller-format convenience store, dubbed the ‘corner store’ in North Sydney.

The format represents an embrace of a convenience strategy the two biggest supermarkets, Coles and Woolworths, have long banked on with their Local and Metro offshoots.

In June, after long watching rival supermarkets’ self-service moves from the sidelines, Aldi began trialling self-serve checkouts at 10 of its stores in NSW and is considering a national rollout.

The move was hyped as a game changer for Australia’s lowest-priced supermarket, one that will address a huge customer criticism of Aldi – long checkout queues.

“Anecdotal feedback from the first day of the trial was overwhelmingly positive, with more than half of our customers opting to use the new self-checkouts,” Aldi said of the move.

After holding out on the online shopping revolution despite the pandemic eCommerce boom, Aldi has also hinted at plans for a digital future.

In March, Aldi’s Australian boss flagging the possibility of online offerings in the future, including alcohol and the cult favourite ‘special buys’.

Aldi chief executive Tom Daunt revealed the discount chain would inevitably give in to the demand for online shopping, but did not specify a time frame.

Aldi market themselves cleverly but in reality are no better, and in some instances worse, than Coles and Woollies.

A friend of my son worked there years ago and his account of the wages and conditions was very different from the PR, not to mention a huge amount of their goods are of foreign origin.

They pay about 70 cents an hour more than Coles and Woolworths, but I'm not so sure they treat the employees any better.

They're staunchly anti-union too.

Woolworths dominates the grocery sector in Australia, with a 37% market share. Coles comes in second place, holding 28% of the market. While Aldi has a smaller market share (11%)

Number one in popularity, EH ?

With a market share of less than half the market of each of the two Australian owned leaders

The fully German family owned multi-national may have its eye on the top spot in Australia - but it's got a hell of a long way to yet

It's a good thing most Australians still support Australian owned companies

Canstar Blue have a dodgy reputation with polling results
They claim Aussie Broadband has the biggest share of Australia's broadband market
Canstar are - of course - a major shareholder in AB

Emoting, over the top BS. This is not Chaplin's Modern Times, turd.

The truckles union is threatening strike action, disrupting vaccine distribution, because they don't want to be treated like animals, eh?? No. They are opportunistic and bloody minded.  Why? because most unions have been captured by a ridiculous Marxist-Leninist mind-set and operatives.

It is not in ANY corporations interest or practice to treat its 'workers like animals".  Many treat them like idiots and racist oppressors in need of woke re-education, true, but that's not what you are concerned about.

You are lying as fluently and unblinkingly as ever, turd.

The Transport Workers Union (TWU) said "crisis talks" over a new enterprise bargaining agreement with Toll collapsed yesterday.

As a result, it said, 7,000 truck drivers would strike for 24 hours on Friday.

The strike means there will be disruptions across a wide range of industries, including retail and beverage.

The TWU said more than 15,000 truck drivers in total could go on strike due to talks between the union and five major transport companies, including Toll, collapsing during negotiations over new enterprise bargaining agreements.

Your ABC.

Yes, now I think back the kids main complaint was  the shift system. No minimum hours, split shifts and being sent home at short notice if the manager decided there was not enough work at the moment.

Yes, they can do that with casuals (not part-time or full-time staff though).

If a casual is rostered on for 6 hours, but things gets quiet after 3, they can be sent home and only paid for the 3 hours.

And yes, there are no minimum hours for a casual - just a minimum shift of 3 hours.

They can go weeks without work.

Thousands of fed up Australian truck drivers will walk off the job today causing more turmoil for the nation’s Covid-hit delivery network.

The Transport Workers’ Union earlier claimed the decision to take action was made after Toll “refused to withdraw its attack on jobs, rights and entitlements at crisis talks” on Tuesday.

The union advised the workers against taking strike action.

However, seeing as the truck drivers (union members) are the ones who pay the union's wages the union made an application for a protected action ballot on their behalf.

It was initiated by the workers, not the union.

However, seeing as the truck drivers (union members) are the ones who pay the union's wages the union made an application for a protected action ballot on their behalf.

It was initiated by the workers, not the union.

As I said many times before, you are lying fluently and effortlessly.

No bad thing, that.

If you're in favour of workers being treated like animals, sure.

Lol   ;D

The unions are against the strike action.

Are they,  laffin' boy:

Thousands of Toll truckies to walk off the job across Australia amid crisis talks
Thousands of fed up Australian truck drivers will walk off the job today causing more turmoil for the nation’s Covid-hit delivery network.

Who's for strike, if the unions are against it?
The Transport Workers’ Union earlier claimed the decision to take action was made after Toll “refused to withdraw its attack on jobs, rights and entitlements at crisis talks” on Tuesday.

For these bastards it's fundamentalist ideological class war every day.

As I've explained to you, the union made an application for a protected action ballot on behalf of their members.

The union advised against it, but at the end of the day they're there to do what their members want.

The decision to strike was made by the workers, not the union.

Not sure why you're struggling to understand this.

Strike action is always decided by union members. Idiotically, you are trying to make out that the union and union members are two separate things.

Sometimes:

a) the union recommends a strike, even when the members may seem reluctant to take such action or are unsure what to do.

b) the members want to strike, but the union advises against it.

In this situation, it was scenario 'b'.

The Union advised its members not to strike, and that they would instead continue to fight the company (sue them) through the courts.

The members, however, said they would rather strike.

So, the Union acted on their members' behalf and applied for a protected action ballot.

And yes, the elected Union officials and the members are two different things.

they pay more than coles or woolies.

They can go weeks without work.

... and they're STILL counted as "employed' - in the official monthly unemployment figures

Which makes me a little suspicious as from where the great advocate of workers rights, cynic of Frydenberg's jobs' figures - and Aldi's greatest flag-waver is REALLY coming from ?
