This popped up on one of my local social media groups, then I saw you'd posted it.
Anything you notice different from then to now? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lU0EeUo6LY |

One thing that hasn't changed are those ugly English faces on the women of Australia.

Here's a fun fact for you, Aussie.
The property around my way has been appreciating at levels that even the long time locals can't imagine. Take this one as an example. Bought for $6.3m in 2019 and just sold for $11.23m. That's $5mill in 2 years. Using that as a guide, in the time it took you to watch that clip, 15minutes, my joint appreciated by about $70.00 and that's if I have only one place. How'd ya like them apples? ;D ;D ;D https://www.domain.com.au/news/north-bondi-house-sold-in-2019-for-6-3m-resold-by-30-year-old-for-11-235m-1087169/ |

That is true. I have particularly noticed that in North America, especially in the South - drive out into the country and the faces you see on both blacks and whites could be out of a Civil War Era photo (freaks) but drive back into any city and the faces are ... modern and attractive. |

I have no idea why but I do not find English faces very attractive. American faces are fine. Australian faces are fine. Just the English. I'm personally drawn to European faces. I think Europeans are more attractive in general. Just my personal opinion. |

I can't disagree with that comment. I watch a lot of UK stuff esp comedy and I keep telling my family I enjoy watching these programs because it gives me so much information about how Aussies were back in the day and why some are like they are today. There's still this link btwn some Aussies and the English. It's their English ancestry. It still defines their look and their way of life. And I don't know that they're even aware of it. I still think the best thing that ever happened to Australia was the rapid influx of European migrants in the 50's - 70's. It developed Australia economically and in terms of personality and character. |

The influx did introduce literally new blood into Australia but there was something else - the American military forces during WWII woke Australia up (culturally) from its colonial slumber. I think Australia would have been quite dull pre-war. |

Title: Re: Hey Kid Pinnah Post by Lisa Jones on Sep 29th, 2021 at 10:16pm
You're right AiA...pre war Australia WAS dull. The diet was dull. No one knew about pasta and extra virgin olive oil. Who knew about basil and garlic and oregano? Everyone cooked in fat and lard and used salt and pepper. I used to have these wonderful talks with my first mother in law (sweet lady but her son was a bastard unfortunately) and she used to tell me about growing up in Sydney back in the 30's and 40's. She and her husband owned a few butcher shops in the 50's in Bondi and its surrounding suburbs which were working class places. They worked hard and bought a few places over time there mainly shops with a flat upstairs and eventually they settled down in a federation styled house in Rose Bay. That double brick house was on a very small block of land. But it was in a quiet street.
Not 1 of their 4 elite private school educated children saw fit to try and keep that home in the family. I (the newest daughter in law) was hoping to somehow buy it after the death of both my in laws but the rest of the family insisted it was sold. And sure enough it was. Their local Jewish real estate agent sold it for a shocking low price of $650 grand. To his cousin (remember that word: family). That was 20 years ago. It's now worth $7 million. Stupid decisions like that is what typically holds back many Australian families. They don't think like Europeans (or even Jewish) people. Asians are the same. They stick together and support each other. As families. If you look closely at who is buying what in Australia you will start to notice this : Aussies are buying units and villas and townhouses anywhere cheaply just so they can get a foot into the property market. (There's nothing wrong with that. They're trying hard to do what they can and that's great). Meantime Europeans, Jewish and Asians in Australia are only looking for free standing houses on decent blocks in quiet streets close to water AND with water glimpses/views. Why? They know this sort of real estate is the new gold rush and it will soon end. Anything fitting that description will make you millions quickly. It's all about dirt. Owning dirt. Dear Lord that sounds depressing. But it's also true. We work hard to own the very thing we will one day end up becoming : dirt. 😩 |

I have found that many "pure" English are in fact far from attractive. The men tend to have no chin and buck teeth. The women have too much symmetry and also have too many teeth. Small jaws and pointed China. From my male perspective. I find Irish far more attractive in general, although not always. Scott's are sometimes quite attractive. The most attractive women I have seen are Hawian/ Japanese, Truely stunningly beautiful. Some Russian ladies are amazing, as are some Greeks, but as they get older, they are dreadfully. Chinese and Japanese ladies can be amazingly beautiful, but again, they are poorly sometimes. Their body shape is a little outputting, they tend to be quite small in several ways. But African, or in fact any people with massive lips, huge noses and dark skin do not do it for me. It's a fact that they smell different. And their body shape is different, puts me off. There are some rare exceptions in all of the above. And what I consider beautiful, some may say is unattractive. My wife was gorgeous when we started dating Long flowing curly red hair 35, 23, 35 figure and the most beautiful face you can imagine. At just under 5 foot, she was a real stunner, but her strict Christian upbringing stopped her from really understanding how beautiful she was. She is 63 now, as am I. She is still pretty to me, but age has worked it's way with us. Her beautiful red hair has been replaced with grey, but the natural curls still are there. Her laugh lines are proliferating and she hasn't the bounce in her step that she once had. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, they say. And love is a filter that changes the way we see each other. |

Awwww that's beautiful 🥰 You my dear friend have a soul mate in that woman. I know how that feels. I have a soul mate in my husband. I think that's why nothing else really matters. I couldn't care less about who he votes for etc. All that matters is this : We found each other. There is a problem with finally finding your soul mate though. You worry that it's too good to be true because of all the previous negativity you've experienced in life at the hands of toxic narcissists. And then there's this : What will happen if they die? How will you cope without the other half of your soul? I don't think I'd last long without him. It's probably why I've become so addicted to growing fruit and veges on my farmlet here. I'm hoping it will keep my family healthy and alive. All my family ... even my soul mate/husband. He never wants to talk about scenarios where either he or I are no longer around. It's too painful for him too. Anyway .... what's this topic about again? |

41 years this year and still in love. Every day is a treasure with her. We met at 18, married at 22, but it still seems like yesterday. As you have sated, my only worry is that we are getting on in years. We are both 63 and even though both our families are long lived, eventually we will pass on. My daughter said we are not allowed to die. Neither of us, she wont hear of it, we have to live forever. She is 26. My granddaughter, immediately after attending my wife's fathers funeral, said that we were not going to die, she would not allow it. My family are very close and its not a good idea to harass any of us, you take on one, you take us all on. |

My Italian mate would not dare not seeing his parents for a week. My Greek mate bought the house next door to his mother. My Russian and Ukrainian friends have their parents living with them. Get togethers are massive , as are weddings. We have also been accepted as part of the family to many and expected to visit when ever we head to Sydney, makes a big day of it. |
