I guess some people have an abundance of energy, I do many of those myself,

My saving grace is I only have a small farm , and the house is not a mansion ?

And most of the zooming I do is through a 3.5 to 7 power scope

Anonymity gives latitude to what you can say to other anonymous posters... But it does mean you need to be resilient enough to cop the flack your anonymous identity may get in return, particularly from those anonymous posters who are managed by real-life people with severe psychiatric disorders.

More to the point...

Now that this is a police matter (according to the poster) who has already interfered in the complaint process, the poster should be temporarily banned to prevent any further perversion of the course of justice.

I don't know Aussie's real name - and frankly couldn't care less....... he is what he is... an online persona, and all I am interested in is his views, same as everyone else's, I have no way of proving and no desire to prove who and what he may be in the real world, same as Lisa Jones.

All this fur and feathers - what IS it all about at the end of the day?

There is only so much that a moderator can tolerate. If it gets to the point where threats of violence is being made against a poster, the moderator should step in and make sure that the offender is warned, muted and/or banned from the forum.

Forum rules are not law.

The complainant needs to demonstrate that they are in danger, which would be hard to prove unless the posters are known to each other in real life and have access to one another.

Or they would need to demonstrate reputational / economic damage, which is not possible when you're anonymous.

Also, you cannot use the same tone you claim you're threatened by and also admit that you amplify the issue by 'throwing rocks' or 'boulders' where 'stones' are thrown.

Flagged? Not the way it works irl. Coppers cannot access databases at random to start with and secondly, police databases do not necessarily have complete criminal records of every individual, there is no master database like you see on CSI. Quite often police have to ask other jurisdictions if they want to know if someone has a previous criminal record and that can take a while and a lot of resources and like I said, they will not be interested in  some petty squabble on a random internet board. Theres millions of those going on and they arent going to waste resources on this crud.

You might be complacent about what you say online. But, the police would not hesitate to prosecute you for any criminal activity you commit. It does not matter if you are using a pseudonym, the police will trace you and find out who you are. Your only defence is to deny ever having committed the crime. A claim of "I wrote that, but it does not mean anything" will not grant you an excuse.

I am not worried about swearing online. The moderators seem to have this forum checked for heavy handed swearing, anyway. The bigger picture is having to deal with activities where you are inciting violence against another person.

Public profanity is an automatic offence if the police see you swear aloud around people under a certain age. Other than that, if you are swearing aloud and someone within earshot objects to the profanity. I read a case about a guy who was found not guilty of profanity in public because he swore at the police at a shopping centre. The police claimed that the defendant swore loudly enough to be heard by other shoppers. But there was no objection by anyone near enough to hear what was said. And there were no children about. The magistrate had to dismiss the case based on a lack of evidence. And the police had to accept that they could not make a case based on their own objection to the bad language because it is part of their job to ignore abuse being directed at them.

A court order can be made to search your computer to log your keystrokes and find out if you had been typing certain things. It can also exonerate you from prosecution if they find out that someone had been hacking your computer and uploading objectionable content to set the computer owner up.

Hello. I happen to be a former mental health patient. Surprised? Well, imagine my own surprise when I found out that I had been placed as a flagged person on police records. Police usually have people with criminal records, a history of violence, or some form of mental health issues recorded to their files, so that police responding to the person of concern would have the information at hand.

Let us go back to my first post on this topic. I said that I did not know what the issue of concern was about this topic. I did then go on to state that even online, you can still get prosecuted if you act in a way that incites violence or encourages someone to commit some form of crime.

I have a recorded history of swearing online and even in public (among adults). And I have claimed to be irreligious since I was 12 years of age. It took me another 12 years before I found people discussing how I could be charged or disciplined for making comments online that could break the law.

I get my information from getting warnings by police that I had been flagged. And I also get information listening to police radio broadcasts online that they do let officers know that someone has some history of mental illness/violence/criminal record, etc. I may not know a great deal about police procedural. I have watched a woman get the data from a computer I was using. It logged whichever keystrokes I made. Backspaces, shift keys, full stops, spaces. They had their own symbols to represent the keystrokes. The letters were written as shown on screen. I have not said that anyone here is a danger to the public. I said that the possibility exists that someone could type something and have those words be used against them in real life. You cannot disprove my claim. Police were making a sting operation against someone and I got roped into the trap. They alleged that I typed something illegal to the point that the police came and asked me a few questions. I denied their allegations. They asked to have a look at what I wrote. I consented. A computer technician employed with the police force hooked up her laptop to my computer. Downloaded the necessary files from my computer. Did the keylogging of the website concerned. Found that my computer had been hacked. And whatever I did write was of no legal concern to the police.

That was 24 years ago. The computer I used is long since gone. And since the year 2006, police have maintained monitoring of my computing and phone records, just in case that I have some kind of legal issue that needs investigating. I doubt that they do the monitoring anymore, since it has been about 6 years since my last interaction with mental health.

I could probably surmise that YOU would get monitored for as long as investigators deem necessary if you have typed in some controversial keywords into your computer. But, no action would be taken unless a police investigation deems it so.

computers don't log keystrokes, unless someone has already installed a keystroke logger onto your system. What you hear on the radio is history already recorded in the polices own records, which they might have due to previous interactions with you .... not because they have access to medical records. Police cannot access your medical records without a judges say so and a judge will not say so without good reason.

at work perhaps? I've heard of employers in the past installing key loggers onto their systems so as to make sure their employees aren't using pc's for private use. I'm not sure if that's legal anymore

You have a record of what you type on your computer. Every word, sentence, backspace, etc. Everything you have clicked on. The only exception is when your computer is remotely accessed. In either case, you should be able to have a record shown on what you type and where you navigated on the internet. Even deleting browser history and whatever you think clears your movements would still leave an archive of information on record on your computer.

And police do have a record of your criminal and traffic history. They have notes of previous interactions. And if you have a history of mental health (as I do), the police can have a note on their system to say that this is the case. Job numbers can be accessed regarding this.

Exactly what I said, theres no "flags", there are individual state databases  with previous arrests and  outstanding warrants which any police office may only use if authorised, interstate information needs to be requested.

Regional area's are still in analog, ive got our local police and fire in my UHF in the truck and ute  on receive only for bushfires etc.

Lying is irrelevant, why are you trying to side step. The point is using family, lying does not matter and pretty much impossible to prove. Finally! Someone had the guts to tell Monk how sorry we feel for the poor woman! As a mother I know I would be utterly disgusted and ashamed if my son turned out anything like Monk BASED on his online behaviour over so many years.
