What are you trying to escape from?

Don't laugh at Monk and his drug of choice alcohol. It's the same addiction mechanism - escaping  something in life you've never been able to face.

More often than not ... a root cause analysis will yield abuse of some sort..physical/emotional/sexual. All very traumatic stuff.

It's a pity addicts like you don't/can't understand that the addiction you have isn't the addiction to the drug or alcohol you take ...but that deep seated emotional pain you can't shake off.

And before you come back to me with stuff like what would I know ....believe you me I do know.

My first husband (the upper class well connected lawyer) was addicted to alcohol and gambling. That's why I had to leave him behind. He wasted millions of dollars in inheritance and almost bankrupted me too.

And this is the thing about addictions....they usually manifest in many forms. With my ex husband it was gambling and alcohol. He hid it well from me until just after our honeymoon ended. After that I saw the reality of his wretched condition.

Anyway I could say more about addiction but in many ways I'm glad I was able to witness, suffer and survive my 1st marriage because it's given me the credibility to speak. Speak up. Speak out. And I don't intend to ever stay silent.

I don't mind talking about God with people.

Over time I've come to respect the fact that when it comes to God we have a lot of different ideas, perceptions and opinions. My husband is not a Christian like me. He used to be an Atheist.
