Title: + Interesting Maths Questions +
Post by Lisa Ross on Mar 31st, 2022 at 10:34pm
I'm hoping this topic will catch the attention of a few mathematicians on OzPol.

My question :

If ....

1! = 1

2! = 2

3! = 6

4! = 24

Then how is it that 0! = 1?

Because you're multiplying diagonally down and left.

If you are multiplying down and left, you would still end up with 0 as the answer. ie., 0 x 1 = 0.

This would fit above the top line 0! = 1.

The formula would take the 1 from here and multiply it with the left hand 1 from the left of the below line 1!=1 (1X1= 1)

0! = 1

1! = 1

2! = 2

3! = 6

4! = 24

0! = 1 by definition

Or you can consider it meaning there is only one way to arrange a set with no members.

Just to pre-empt you, Lisa, you gave me permission to quote you with an unsolicited message. Rules on privacy: "Do not post personal information about other members without their explicit permission. This includes the contents of personal messages and emails, photos, names, IP addresses, phone numbers, locations etc".

I have not stated anything that you have not already made clear on the forum. "A mother and a nag". You have no recourse in reprimanding me.

I read through the preamble of your last 25 posts. You implied Monk was a homosexual. You call mothra "Methra" -- implying that she is a drug addict. The very definition of a "nag" being "harass (someone) constantly to do something that they are averse to". Being that you want to stereotype someone who has not volunteered that they are akin to that stereotype.

And if you send an unsolicited personal message to me that I then divulge piecing it together on a forum, it is deemed permission by YOU, Lisa, that I post such. As it reinforces what you have stated in the public forum.

I do not have to ask permission to quote you on something that you have made public on a forum. My obligations are to keep confidential your identity, where you live, phone numbers, and anything related to your privacy that you have not volunteered online. Sending a pm to me with certain content does not mean that you can retroactively impose an injunction on what you have publicly already stated online on this website.

Hi, an easier way of proving this, using the formula:

N! = (n+1)! / (n+1)

For example:

4! = 5!/5
3! = 4!/4

0! = 1!/1 = 1

The assumption is that, in a 3 dimensional space, zero exists in an environment when 1 is the minimum.

I do not need "explicit" written permission by you to mock what you wrote to me in a personal message. Likewise, why would you write a nonsensical personal message to me in an unsolicited manner? Were you trying to diffuse the seriousness of what you wrote to me in a response on another forum topic?

It read to me like you were having some kind of mental health issue and were venting some kind of way on a forum and somewhat apologising in a pm without actually apologising. If not, you come off looking idiotic.

Getting to the point, I only need implicit permission from you to mock your personal message. And gathering the information I have had on you over the last 2 months, you have already divulged enough information in relation to the concern for me to use against you. And if this is a real problem for you, I can always delete the personal message and then ignore you for the remainder of my time using ozpolitic. Sound fair?

Oops question should be:

The 0th power of zero is 1.

✓-1 (square root of -1) does not exist. In maths and physics i is defined as the square root of -1.

Any number with i as part of it is a complex number.

Hi Lisa,
i squared = -1.

so the answer is i which is called an imaginary number
but in fact is vital to get the correct results in maths.
That's all about complex numbers -
a very important part of maths.

What is the most beautiful expression in maths?
Euler’s formula -
It simplifies very complicated maths and is
essential in engineering and science.
It's one of the first things you learn in maths at Uni
and continues to be used all the way through any maths course.

https://www.sciencealert.com/pi-and-its-role-in-the-most-beautiful-formula-in-mathematics

Do you want my next topic -
the fundamental theorem of arithmetic?
It involves prime numbers.

then

The fundamental theorem of algebra?

then

the fundamental theorem of calculus?

Listen Monk,
I had a look at my maths textbooks from uni not long ago.
It looks like Chinese to me now.
I wonder how I ever did it -
it's very difficult.
I actually did well in maths.

Stop lying, Booby! You are a high school dropout. You are extremely gullible which is why you followed the OBVIOUS conman David Dubyne! If you had had ANY maths or science training you would have seen him for the fraud he is! You didn’t and you STILL believe the conman about climate!

You must be a HUGE disappointment to whatever family you have still living. Such a dumbarse!

Haven't you got other forums to "moderate" ie troll through and wreck? Yet here you are ... on Ozpolitics and right inside this particular topic which I started hoping to bring a few people together in time for Friday night while we're watching the game.

Seriously just piss off. You even have a sub forum on OzPol that you could easily smear with your BS. Go there.

PI is merely an irrational number. It's not infinity.

It's the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.

The number 4 is what everything comes down to. 4

The boring answer to Larry’s crap question about the black hole of maths is four, because four is the only number with the same number of letters as the number is: F O U R. and 4. Boring, trivial the sign of a mind in decline from drug use and endless hours in front of the computer.

Don't blame me just because you have the IQ of a gnat. If you copy the title then people will not notice it's another forum and you risk people posting there who shouldn't. You cannot have it both ways. Even something as simple as a number 2 at the end of the title to show it wasn't the original would have sufficed.

But you seem to struggle to count that high .

Frodo I got into a private high school on a scholarship which meant I didn't have to pay a cent and after that I finished 2 degrees at Sydney University. My first husband had 3 degrees and my second has 2 degrees. All from Sydney University. My 2 older children ...the twins have 2 degrees. From Sydney University. My eldest son is now completing a law degree (his 3rd degree). At Sydney University.

I live in a house that our primary lender recently valued at close to 7 million. We needed that valuation to borrow more money for a new development we're currently undertaking. This new development will be finished within 12 months. Its value will be around $5.5 million.

The cars my husband and I drive are tax deductible. We obtain them brand new and as they're leased ... they get upgraded every 5 years. We on sell these to our kids, nieces, nephews so they get a chance to enjoy a nice and well looked after vehicle.

Let's look at you now Abo Frodo Junko Hobo....

You never finished year 9. And that's because you struggled in a bogan local public school. And you're out in the middle of nowhere... still living in Aboriginal Public Housing with your brand new 12 year old rust bucket Audi which has over 120 000 km on the clock. And most important of all you have never worked a day in your life for honest money which could be taxed so you could pay your child support debts. And that is why you are a cheat and a dole bludging grub! Oh and you're an ignorant prick too. You have no idea about anything which is why Freediver pwns your arse every time he logs in and sees your BS lying about. And right now? You're stoned out of your drug fried brain. That's why you can't even follow what's written in posts on this forum and you're providing a lot of comic relief. 😂😂😆

Given that yahoo shut down about 10 yrs ago, that would mean I bought the car when it was 2 years old ..... Do you really think you could get a 2 year old audi for $10k back then?  . ;D ;D ;D

I'll give you some advice Lisa, if you ever want to buy a car ... don't. You haven't a clue and will be ripped off.

My husband knows I'm a winner! I actually made a lot of money in the past 2 years thanks to Covid19 and how it affected real estate in Sydney. Lots of people I know made millions! It was just too easy with such low interest rates. And because it's Sydney and near the water ... even an old house on a 500m2 block of land is EASILY worth $2.5 million. How can you NOT make money ???

In fact the house we've just demolished was bought for $1.7 million and that was a year back. We've torn the house down now as I said and we're waiting for more bedrock to be blasted before finally starting on concrete slab work plus retaining walls. We're building a basement cellar plus man cave plus triple car garaging. Lift access will be from there and will go up to level 1 and level 2. Level 3 will be rooftop garden overlooking district plus water.

I reckon it will be worth more than $5.5 million but meh I'll be happy with that figure too.

Ohh what a shame this forum has no engineers or architects or surveyors. How awesome it would have been to discuss exciting stuff like property developing and how to make money using property. It's really all just mathematics. And I love mathematics.  😎

Never mind.

Only ordinary people play safe.

I play safe and smart. Think of a game like chess. You have to be a few steps ahead at all times and that means being prepped for any possible scenario.

Which brings us to mathematics once again! Mapping out future possibilities vs probabilities.

There are a number of scenarios to consider (and on
a number of levels). It's almost like staring into a 3D matrix lol.

Anyway let's take these posts back to your place Bobby. It's much more comfortable (and sane) there. 😂🤣😆

I thought I was bad with my tertiary education. If I could do my late teens again, I would refuse to go to university and do a course at TAFE. Even a Business Admin course would have been fair.

Those that do 2 or 3 university courses have either too much time or money on their hands. There is no point in doing more than one degree inside a short span of time. If you want to do a maths course and then decide to go on to do a teaching degree to become a math teacher, that is good. But, if you are doing degrees just to speak highly of yourself, you are deluding yourself.

Yes - some people never want to leave university -
they collect degrees like shoes.   ;D

I know 2 people with PhDs who had unsuccessful lives.
I know someone who left high school
when he was only 16 and he is now worth at least $20 million - maybe twice that.

More importantly....that tells me you yourself never went to University....except maybe to drop off someone's lunch order.

After NINE years there????????

Has he been at Uni for NINE YEARS?

Of course not you silly uneducated and totally ignorant goose! Do yourself and all of OzPol a big favour and creep back into your Relationshits cave and get on with those puzzles which are apparently very good for those getting a bit long in the tooth and are at high risk of dementia.

Yes, that is a PM you sent me.  I regard it as fair enough to post to demonstrate the level of absolute bullshit you post.  You have to be brought to account for your lies.

Report me.

1. Aussie do you think that posting my private PM without ANY permission by me mind you .... on this forum is ok? Yes or No?

2. Do you think you have some exemption to OzPol's Forum Rules? Yes or No?

Let's start with you answering these 2 questions.

Oh so you know about the forum rules. Great! You shouldn't have any trouble with this then:

Now show me where I explicitly gave you permission to reveal the contents of my PM to you?

I've looked back at your back peddling rubbish and I still can't where I gave you EXPLICIT permission to divulge ANY PM by me.

And you can't either. Can you? Where is my post saying. I Lisa give you Dhead full permission to post up ANY PM I may have sent to you?

Where is that post ? Oh that's right. It's NOWHERE.

Thank you for confirming exactly that.

That's actually not a defence at all Dumbarse.

Let me tell you what that is :

It's your supposition based on ignorance and having way too much time on your hands.

And I'll tell you what wise you've done Dumbarse....you've given yourself that exemption and you do not have that capacity.

You've breached my confidentiality.

You've breached this forum's rules.

You've shown yourself to be exactly what Freediver has warned us of wrt you and your online antics.

And now for me to be able to respond to you would require me divulging further details about my son's private life. That private information which I won't reveal here has in fact been made known to Freediver who now also knows about this topic and what you've done.

But you are a Dumbarse of the highest order. Why? Because you think that the conclusions you reach by the bits n pieces posted = ALL the information required to accuse someone. In this instance your Dumbarse supposition is based on incomplete information and your dumbarse accusations which were based on your suppositions are therefore also false.

The PMs you reveal on both sister forums have always been your downfall Dumbarse.

You clearly don't know anything about university degrees today. And what sorts of combined degree programs are being offered (or why).

More importantly....that tells me you yourself never went to University....except maybe to drop off someone's lunch order.

I started off doing a combined degree. Then I felt that I should drop one part of the degree and concentrate on the other. I finished that degree. Started another degree the following year. Got about 5 subjects away from completing that one when the mental health issues began. That was 16 years ago.

For the last 14 years, I have wondered at the utter stupidity of doing more than one degree, neither of which will now land me a job anywhere. But, they are both useful in what I have needed in life over the last 20 years.

The very fact that I have done university has helped me understand that whilst it is a good way of getting educated, you could probably have gotten the same education "at the public library for $1.50 in late charges". I have textbooks that I have purchased from second hand stores and an education depot that I could purchase second hand high school textbooks for cheap. Going to university, attending classes, and doing assignments does little to further your employment prospect, unless you are doing a course for in demand jobs. Otherwise, you would be better off working part-time and doing your degree (a one off) to show that you are both studious and hard working, for when you attend a future employment interview. Getting two or three degrees is just something someone with a superiority complex might do to show off to anyone who will listen.

Someone pointed out that they knew friends/acqaintances that did a Phd or two and have not gotten anywhere. Whereas others they know got a job out of high school and are raking in the money. Everytime, I hear about your ability to complete a degree set at a standard that any high school student should easily pass, I can picture you with your head between your legs, sniffin' your own farts. I could only assume that the son of yours doing his degree to become a lawyer will probably end up as a public defender at some legal aid station. But that is okay, he might actually save the taxpayers some money, if he puts his mind to it.

What you did the other week can be construed as an attempted entrapment. Not that it has much legal weight in a public forum, unless I have posted personal information about you that is not already found on the public forum. I have not posted personal information about you. And as for mention of your son, YOU brought up the information that he is doing a law degree. Not me. If you do not want people to respond about information that you VOLUNTEER on a forum, be a bit more discreet about what you say in future.

The blatant hypocrisy you have in your posts is nothing short of sensational. Are you suffering some kind of neurosis? There is no difference between what you have already said on a forum and myself quoting sardonically what you say (stringing two 'sentences' together) from a personal message.

In the battle of wits, you have come unarmed.

I doubt any poster here has time to post 20 posts per day and have time to do a full time job and raise a family... as well as maintain a house.

All Monk did was UNban his other fake shared troll id. And then Monk banned you ... a moderator because he ie Monk lost the plot. As Monk usually does because we all know he's a rabid multi Mong troll.

Here is another interesting maths question for you Drunk Darwin Monk: how many unfried by alcohol brain cells do you have left?

Let's read your own post which will give us all a pretty good clue :

Quote:
Aussie made a mistake there.

Would have worked (well for longer) if Booby could recognise that he is only an active Mod when Aussie and myself are both away.

^^^Drunk Darwin Monk's lonely brain cell has now decided that he will allow another appointed PA Mod to moderate under HIS 2 very specific delusional conditions.

1. He ie Drunk is away AND
2. Aussie is away.

And THAT is why Drunk banned another Moderator last night on PA.

Duh! The old codger is drunk and demented at the best of times. Nothing he posts makes sense and he is incapable of following the posts in a topic. At Yahoo, you were childless and in your late 50s.

Now you've a 30 year old son who's been in law school for 10 years.

You should know better than anyone, Larry, on the internet, you can be whatever you want. Problem is though, lies catch up with you.
