Title: Re: Premier Quits Post by greggerypeccary on Apr 4th, 2022 at 5:23pm Don't know much about the guy, to be honest. As far as Libs go, is he okay or is he a typical corrupt, lying conservative? |

He's a lib. The safe money is on him being a corrupt liar. |

Don't know either - didn't even know his name. However when Liberal Premiers resign it is normally because someone has the goods on them. Maybe not this time who knows. NSW lost one to The Grange and one to property deals recently and we remember what happened to Mrs Alphabet. Liberals who aren't corrupt are not in politics assuming that there are a few about somewhere, just as likely not. |

I don't subscribe to the theory that he is a Lib, therefore he must be evil.
To me, Premier Gutwein appears to be a capable leader. He led his state through the Covid-19 pandemic. He didn't need to do a lot, just shut the borders and kept them shut to keep the virus out. He was similar to Premier McGowan (WA) in that regard. He's not leaving politics for nefarious reasons as far as I can tell. He has cited family reasons. There could be a scandal we don't know about, but I doubt that - Tasmania is not NSW. Tasmanian Premiers in the past 20 years are more likely to leave politics for personal reasons, not as a result of a scandal. |
