‘No public health rationale’: Australia’s former deputy chief health officer Dr Nick Coatsworth calls for workplaces to ditch COVID-19 vaccine mandates
Dr Nick Coatsworth is urging corporations to "rethink" jab mandates, arguing vaccination does not reduce the transmissibility of the Omicron variant and Australians of working age are less likely to become severely ill from COVID-19.

Australia’s former deputy chief health officer Dr Nick Coatsworth says its time for workplaces to ditch vaccine mandates, claiming "there's no public health rationale" behind them.

Speaking with Sky News Australia's Peta Credlin on Monday, the infectious diseases physician said it was the wrong time in the pandemic to be considering COVID-19 mandates.

“We have to be vigilant about COVID-19 there’s no doubt about that," Dr Coatsworth said.

"But what does that vigilance mean in 2022? Well it’s a very different thing to 2020 when we had no vaccine and no treatments.

“Mandates have a role but it’s very early on when you need to protect as many lives as possible when there are too many unknown unknowns."

Apparently you've misinterpreted what Coates actually said.

Which was to ditch workplace vaccination mandates, but not
ditch the vaccines themselves.

Two totally different scenarios.

Huh?

That makes even less sense than your opening post for this thread.

But, still quite an achievement I must admit.

Sounds like "Doctor Nick" has been sipping the cooking sherry again.  ::)

Oh, and...

No public health full stop anymore. Someone should bring "Doctor Nick" up to speed and let him know it's now "Personal Responsibility" as far as our governments are concerned.

governments used fear and then offered themselves as the solution to the trembling masses.

now the curtain has been drawn back

nearly everyone has had covid and it has been a nothing burger AND the pandemic is surging.

government response

I agree with all of this.  Mandates were useful to getting idiots who are easily led vaccinated.  IF we're not going to exterminate anti vax scum (and I am not suggesting we should), then we need to work out how to function with them.  Mandates just give them something to focus their mental illness on

Governments used science.  Not everyone has covid.  It's far from a 'nothing burger'.

I'm sure the families of the 56 dead people in today's report just for NSW and Victoria will be thrilled to hear that.

Not to mention the families of the thousands in hospital who I'm sure are in a state of constant worry thinking about whether their loved ones will be coming home ever again.
