Title: most people work part time by choice Post by freediver on Jul 19th, 2022 at 11:16am
It's not the economic disaster, or a symptom of evil bosses, that the unions make it out to be. It's a lifestyle choice that Australians are now able to afford. Less than 10% of people on part time work are in that position because they cannot find full time work.

Many do - I've spoken to female nurses and they say they prefer the casual rates and free time.... ergo - one day they will have a lower super balance than their old man's who goes to work for the men's average of over 40 hours a week.
Simple really ......... all the sheilas whining about how poor women suffer less super and lower incomes are all in the fattest jobs in the land with the finest super.... all bullshit.... and they conspicuously leave out that the missus shares the hubbie's income during working life and super etc in retirement and same about.... It's all lies... and Albo knows it..... so - watch this space for the huge pre-election barrage of propaganda to try to grab the women's vote by suggesting freebies up the kazoo while actually promising nothing....... see what actually comes out of it all...... Beware of political freaks bearing grift... always read carefully what they offer... |

That graph is a load of bollocks. As is any conclusion drawn from it
1. I wonder how many of those 'studying' are there just because the govt. says they have to study or look for ten jobs a week? 2. Graph shows how many wanted to look for full time work, but it doesn't show how many wanted more hours. 3. Shows how many are caring for kids, but not how many of those want to work or want more hours of work. |

Thing is - working part-time will not allow a person to prosper in this economic climate, but to permanently fall behind while the vultures eat the nation alive...
We need a revolution ...... |

Good post. I would simply want to work an average of 30 hours a week for a few months. And then I would want to work a full time job in another industry. I do not feel like getting a second job to up my hours. Just more hours in the job I am doing currently. |

I expect there are probably more people working over 40 hours a week who would prefer less work, than vice versa.

I didn't realise the government forces people to study. Are you talking about school kids? |
