Google maps stopped working on my mobile the other day. When I searched for something, the only results that came up were other recent searches, until I got a message saying "something went wrong". After trying a dozen different things, I figured out it was because I had changed the password on my gmail account via my computer, which logged me out of the google account on the phone, which somehow stopped google maps from working. This happened in the middle of a work trip in another city when I needed it to get around.

I could not google the fix.

I think it is google's way of making sure you are logged in when you use their maps, so they can track where you go.

Imagine if you were invading another country, even as a conscripted slave - and google maps stopped working! :o :o

Do use Google maps for various reasons but not UBDs.

Yes, I look in the UBD, memorise the route, put it back in the seat pocket, and then drive to my destination.

I've just never understood why people need to be told where to turn left, where to turn right, what exit to take on a roundabout, etc.

Look at the map, see where you need to go, then drive there.

Others don't want the added ballast of needing a book like you do. We can have a map or ask to be guided on our phone.
