Title: Putin's Pals Post by greggerypeccary on Dec 24th, 2022 at 7:44pm Here, on the left, are two of Russian terrorist - Vladimir Putin's - biggest fans: That's Republican Lauren Boebert (whose husband is a convicted child sex offender) and Republican Matt Gaetz (who is currently under investigation for child sex trafficking). Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz stayed sitting and looked at their phones while Congress gave Zelenskyy a standing ovation Reps. Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz stayed seated and did not applause as other lawmakers gave a standing ovation for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy when he addressed Congress. Zelenskyy spoke to a joint session of Congress on Wednesday. It marked his first visit outside Ukraine since Russia's invasion began in February. While Boebert and Gaetz attended, neither MAGA Republican seemed impressed. Were they downloading (child) porn on their phones? |

Back as far as the 1950s, the USA warned of war with Russia citing the defence of freedom and democracy. It is the height of hypocricy that the side of politics who railed the loudest against Russian authoritarianism for generations, built the most powerful military the world has ever seen to counter that dictatorship's influence everywhere from Cuba to Cam Ran Bay, now cannot agree on the support for a war for those same principals, when Americans are not even directly threatened. Either Russia was the enemy then and now, or the whole thing was a farce, and all the Americans and Australians who died or were maimed in Korea and Vietnam were part of a monstrous lie. If Trump wasn't bad enough, these Republicans are disgusting.

"human being" is being a little generous. She's pure scum. Jayson Steven Boebert, the husband of Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., has complicated his wife's political career recently, after reports that the right-wing congresswoman failed to disclose Jayson's highly-paid work in the natural gas industry while she was serving on the House Natural Resources Committee, which directly oversees regulation of that business. It appears that might not be the only thing about Jayson that Rep. Boebert doesn't want the public to know. In January 2004, when Jayson Boebert was 24, he was arrested for exposing himself to two young women at a Colorado bowling alley. His future wife Lauren Roberts (as she was then known), who was 17 at the time, was also present and was told she was no longer welcome at the bowling alley. Jayson Boebert pled guilty to "public indecency and lewd exposure" after that incident, according to The New York Post, and was sentenced to four days in jail with a subsequent two years on probation. |

Santa’s Sleigh Mistakenly Shot Down By Ukrainian Missile
KYIV — Somber news came out of war-torn Ukraine today as reports confirmed Santa Claus's sleigh had been mistaken for a hostile Russian aircraft and was shot down by a Ukrainian surface-to-air missile as it flew over the greater Kyiv area early this morning. It has long been suspected that Santa Claus frequently makes test flights over this region in the days leading up to Christmas, but there have been reports of Ukrainian military personnel being overly eager to try out their new missiles provided by the United States. "One of our reconnaissance teams observed something unidentifiable on the radar this morning," said Ukrainian military spokesperson Gweggy Gweggorovic at a media briefing. "We attempted multiple times to communicate with the aircraft and received no response. We very clearly warned the aircraft that we would open fire if it remained in restricted Ukrainian airspace. We did what we had to do. This tragedy is not on us. The blood of Santa Claus is on his own head." Wreckage believed to be remnants of Santa's sleigh was found in a nearby village, though there has been no sign of Santa himself. The public is holding out hope that he has somehow survived and will still be well enough to carry on his Christmas work over the weekend. At publishing time, the White House offered no comment on any involvement of the United States in the incident, though the Biden administration was already aware of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky already requesting another Patriot missile to replace the one used to destroy Santa's sleigh. |

Russia has a current military budget of $40b up from recent lows of $20b. In the 80s their budget was as high as $300b. God knows what that equates to in today's money. The historical Russia you've mentioned is rather different from today |

From what I have seen quoted from the US military, a group of hawkish organisations, Republican anti-Ukraine sentiments are not shared. In fact, the Pentagon is actively engaged in training, informing, and supporting the Ukrainian military. With the added bonus of trying out weaponry on Russians without putting anyone in harm's way. Of course, the Islamists are doing that too, but they will pay dearly when the time is right. |
