I noted this article on this morning's ABC News website, and I have to
say I was disgusted by its thrust.   It refers to special "women only"
sessions at council swimming pools in order to allow Islamic women
and their female children to swim, and take swimming lessons away
from the sight of men.

These women-only sessions are intended to "break down cultural barriers"
in our "multicultural" society and "open doors" to those women who avoid
public pools for cultural or religious reasons.     I call bullshit on all this.

I reject the practice of discrimination and/or segregation in all its various
forms, and I see this as very much the thin end of the cultural wedge.
Having travelled throughout South Africa in the days of active apartheid,
I can see similar and offensive comparisons being made here with these
women-only pool sessions.

And although this is an older report from 2010 it raises similar concerns
to my mind.

A bikini ban for a Ramadan event at a public pool should not be taken
lightly as it puts fundamental freedoms of Western society on the line

You see - Muslims don't like Australia the way it is - they want to change it.

I always believe that public spaces should be free of religious discrimination - in both direction.  So no, I do not believe that a public pool should have special restrictions on everyone just to cater for a special group.  Perhaps except for children or people with disability. 

The people of Islam faith however is free to pool their resources together and open their own privately owned pools, and there they can set their own rules to their liking.

N.B. Although personally, the idea of woman/girls only pool time is quite appealing.

Australia is now a highly secularised country with 39.7% of Australians
not expressing any religious affiliation, after the 2016 census.  There
are now more atheists in Australia than either the Roman Catholic
religion or the Anglican religion.

When we were travelling in Islamic countries, and entered any state
building or mosque, we adhered to the countries wishes for religious
propriety—shoes off, and headscarf for my wife (who carried one in
her travel bag for just that purpose).

My little joke about jihad by stealth was meant as a pointer to the
subtle but insidious infection of countries allowing unlimited Islamic
migration—both France and Germany only now discovering their
mistake.

These woman need to understand that segregation based on gender,
sexuality, ethnicity, age, or religion is totally unacceptable in Australia.

While the women are asking for this it's driven by muslim men.

It's muslim men who can't control themselves around women who are what Sheik Hilaly called uncovered meat for not wearing hijab.

Non muslim men have never had any problems with women wearing swimming costumes.

It's not Jihad by stealth it's creeping sharia law where they bring it in a little bit at a time. The leftists need to grow a backbone and remind these muslims we're a secular country.

Sorta kinda. Multiculturalism as a social and immigration policy is well meaning enough. Its weakness is that it does not recognise the reality of an umbrella culture that has established the toleration required. And in most cases, that means a system based on the British parliamentary model. So, this philosophy has allowed people of a culture that is not one of tolerance to live among us, as if our system would rub off on them. Of course, they cannot say that out loud because it sounds patronising and condescending, but in effect, it is no different to the Victorians who believed that putting aboriginal children among whites would eventually civilise them.
