Graham Nash was even praising him up ...

which surprised me after the doco I watched where Nash portrayed him as being a self centred prick & the reason Nash left the group.

Not a nice fellow at all according to Nash.

But anyway RIP David Cosby part of a great band.

btw Cosby got kicked out of the Byrds for feuding with bandmates.

He did the same shyte with Graham Nash.... Nash wrote more hit songs by a long chalk.

Unbelievable talent - not many end up founding members of 2 iconic groups.

We've lost two giants of the music industry this month:  Jeff Beck and David Crosby.

Both were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.

How's that? Once you're in you're in...no?

Or is it because they he were was in different bands that were inducted?

Oh wow! That song has been in a TV ad.

They're not really my cup of tea I'm afraid Gnads but that song did have good lyrics.

Thanks for sharing that clip. I've learned something new today. Cheers.

OMG! No way! "Our House" is THEIR song too??

That's another song that's been used in advertising for years.

These guys WERE influential. It seems I do know some of their music but only through advertising.

It's raining in Sydney today so as we're stuck inside ... I'll play your clips and any others you put up.

Their music is easy to listen to and kinda makes you want to follow the story in their lyrics.

Cheers 👌

Joni Mitchell wrote & sang this song in 1969. It was the "B" side to her single Big Yellow Taxi(paved paradise, put up a parking lot).

CSN's upbeat rock version was released on their album Deja Vu in 1970.

Well I didn’t realise the Byrds were part of their making.

I remember that group too!

In those days there were so many groups with animal or bug names.

Example…

The Turtles
The Monkees
The Beatles
The Eagles
Steppenwolf
Country Joe and the Fish
Three Dog Night
The Pussy Cat Dolls
Def Leopard
Atomic Kitten
Cat Stevens

Etc….

Everyone knows that American and Australian music is 'girlie' music. ;D Just look at Peccary - now there's a girlie if ever there was one. Guys in Australian/American music are losers and crap. :P

The only King of Music is in Europe.  ;)

Nick Cave only became 'cool' when he went to Germany.
When he went Gospel in America - he went crap.

Even Led Zep didn't want to go to America - very uncool. Germany was more their thing ;D

I had no idea THEY were responsible for that song! The cover version/s are all I'm familiar with.

So basically I grew up NOT KNOWING these guys but KNOWING some of their songs because they were re used by others for advertising purposes or as covers.

Thank you all for enlightening me. And thank you David Crosby et al for the 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

For those unfamiliar with that famous old photo, Clapton was mesmerised by Mitchell's guitar playing (sure, he was stoned too).

Eric plays guitar in standard tuning, but Joni uses many different non-standard tunings.

Eric was trying to figure out how she was playing such wonderful chords with only one or two fingers.

People who were there that day say he was totally immersed in her playing and watched her for hours.

"While most guitars are kept at standard tuning, strung E-A-D-G-B-E from low to high, Mitchell almost never uses a standard tuning set-up for anything. Instead, her guitar could be tuned to any number of wild intervals that would baffle even the most complex jazz players."

Micky Dolenz shot a lot of video footage that day too, but something happened to his camera or film (can't quite remember the full story) and none of the footage is available today   :'(

Joni Mitchell, David Crosby and Eric Clapton at Cass Elliott's Laurel Canyon home

I'm halfway through that clip. 👆

It's possibly the most amazing YouTube clip I've ever watched because it's going back in time and bringing together so many missing music pieces of a jigsaw puzzle which I never really knew existed.

BBL....I just need to finish watching it.

I think this one is available on Stan:

Finished watching the 1st one.

(I'm ready for any question regarding that clip).

Now I'll watch this next one 👆.

Edit : the 2nd one is more or less a trailer of the 1st.

What an amazing time and place.

A few surprises in that other clip regarding Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Frank Zappa.

There have been some good documentaries made about Laurel Canyon.

Here's just one:

There are a couple on Netflix, Stan, and Prime too - well worth checking out.

Laurel Canyon gave us some great music and musicians.

The 2nd one is a trailer for a different movie.

Try to find it if you can.
