Title: Cook books …
Post by Sophia on May 20th, 2023 at 12:42am
I’m such an avid collector of books and especially cook books!
I cannot help it! It’s such a joy!
Was in an op shop today and women’s weekly cook books, 3 for $1  :o
So I bought 6! (I also bought an “angry birds” tea cup  ;D because I loved playing that on the iPad some years back!)
Anyway….I go through the pages of cook books and put pink sticky notes on recipes I will try.
I avoid recipes that take up too much prep time, or have a loooong list of ingredients  ::)
Also avoid recipes with cream … and I change recipes to make them gluten free.

Many years ago, some local lady wrote a cookbook with cooking instructions that her sons could follow. I bought a copy of her cookbook directly from her, for a price of about $25. It has been a game-changer for me. I used a recipe for curried chicken/sausages so much that the page has fallen out of the book. The recipe's page is now magnetised to the fridge.

That sounds like a fab book!
And it’s always great to find that one recipe from a cook book that sticks with you as a fave!

I’ve just finished going through some of these women’s weekly cook books with pink fluoro sticky tabs with what took my interest as a possible fave.
I will try each recipe out pending on food shopping from list of ingredients required from week to week.

I have dozens and dozens of Women's Weekly recipe books and others in boxes in the garage.  If you lived closer you could have as many as you want.

They're all in mint condition too.

That sounds so fab!
You could try selling them on eBay as I’ve seen some do. Check it out.

Well I couldn’t resist!
I’ve watched Dylan on tik tok for ages as he’s so joyful and funny in the kitchen with his unique style.
Then he does the taste test with an honest face he pulls whether yay or nay  ;D
So I saw his published cook book… c’mon… how could I resist and not buy it.

I need a bookcase for my cookbooks, with a couple shelves for my brew books.

Thinking of a wall to wall, floor to ceiling (2.4m) bookcase in my study with a centre piece being a display cabinet for my more exquisite/historical glass and porcelain: a couple 1/2 Watt LEDs to make the display glow gently.

Maybe another bookcase in the kitchen for the cookbooks?

One of my Cousins wrote a series of cookbooks. They are pretty good.

Wow that’s fantastic! Do you ever get invited to eat at their place?
I would love to have my own chef cook for me!

I was recently thinking wanting exactly that also.
In fact a few months ago at Zagamies having a pub meal I took a photo of this …

Last time I tried to cook a book.
It didn't turn out any good, let alone the pages, one after the other.
