Former President Donald Trump threatened to appoint a “real special ‘prosecutor’” to target President Joe Biden if he is reelected president, in his latest Truth Social rant since he was indicted by the Justice Department last week over his handling of classified documents—a case Trump and his GOP allies have characterized as a politically motivated attack designed to thwart Trump’s reelection chances.

Trump, calling Biden “the most corrupt president in the history of the USA,”
said he would use a special prosecutor to
“go after” the president and “the entire Biden crime family”
in a post on Truth Social as he traveled to Miami ahead of his Tuesday court appearance in the federal case.

The threat builds on Trump’s and his Republican allies’ narrative to cast the documents probe as an act of political bias by Biden, who oversees the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland, even though he appointed a special prosecutor to handle the case against Trump to avoid the perception of political interference and a grand jury voted to indict the ex-president.

Trump accused Biden of lying when he said he never spoke to Garland about the Trump case, writing, “Crooked Joe & his thugs are destroying America!” while equating the probe to “election interference at a level never seen before in our country!”

Trump is recorded saying that he didn't declassify. Even so the charges do not depend on them being classified or not.

I don't know why I was under the impression a convicted person could not run for office, but nothing in the Constitution prevents it. Seems Trump could run anyway this turns out.

Stole thousands of documents
Refused to return documents when asked
Refused to return documents after a subpoena had been issued
Hid documents from the FBI by moving them (obstruction)
Had his legal team lie saying that all documents had been returned when they hadn't.
Is likely still in possession of more documents.
Discussed classified documents contents with with general people with no access classification.
Held to secret documents in an unsecured manner at a location known to be vulnerable to foreign spies.

and it goes on and on and on.

All trump had to do to make this go away would have been to return the documents and he refused time after time.
