Florida police say man who shot three people in Jacksonville store may have been 'racially motivated'

A fatal shooting at a Florida store is being investigated as a racially motivated hate crime. 

Three people were killed in a Jacksonville Dollar General store on Saturday local time, when a man in his 20s barricaded himself in the shop.

The shooter, who killed two men and a woman, also killed himself.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation told reporters it would be pursuing the shooting as a hate crime.

All victims were black and it was suspected the shooter was racially motivated, according to Jacksonville sheriff TK Waters.

Waters said the shooter, who was in his 20s, used a Glock handgun and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle with at least one of the firearms painted with a swastika. He said the shooter left behind “several manifestos” for media, his parents and law enforcement detailing his hatred for Black people. The writings led investigators to believe that he committed the shooting because it was the fifth anniversary of another Jacksonville shooting.

“The hate that motivated the shooter’s killing spree adds an additional layer of heartbreak,” Waters said.

“This is a dark day in Jacksonville’s history. There is no place for hate in this community,” sheriff Waters said. “I am sickened by this cowardly shooter’s personal ideology.” He said the investigation will continue and that the shooter’s home is being searched.

This white supremacist had no criminal record and he had obtained his guns legally.

Oh dear.

A law-abiding citizen was given easy access to guns, and he went out and murdered three people.
