Ok I’ve got a question:

What are you training for? The Commonwealth Games?

150 beats per minute and over an hour in a sauna?

That's bad for your health.
I could never stand more than 5 minutes in a sauna.

I do 3 lots of 20 minutes with a short cool swim in between.

Have a look at the HR graph, my HR climbs steadily then at about the 20m mark starts to peak. That's when I get out and cool off.

People who regularly do sauna have much lower rates of heart attack/stroke.

For about a year I've been doing OMAD, One Meal A Day. I just don't get hungry until about 530 not matter how active I am.

Mostly safe:

https://www.lifespan.org/lifespan-living/saunas-and-your-heart-it-safe-use-sauna-if-you-have-heart-disease

Can individuals with a heart condition use a sauna, and is it dangerous?

While the use of a sauna is considered safe for most individuals, the exception is for those with unstable heart disease. For individuals with any of the following conditions, it may not be safe:

    unstable angina pectoris
recent heart attack (within two weeks)
    uncontrolled hypertension
    decompensated heart failure
    severe aortic stenosis

In addition to unstable heart disease, a sauna can be a health threat to individuals with the following conditions:

    low blood pressure
    dehydration
    fever
    acute infection or inflammation
    skin breakdown (urticaria)

If you have any of these conditions, talk to your doctor about the use of a sauna as the heat and/or excess sweating may worsen the underlying condition.

So heat plus humidity helps people live longer? Hence why so many oldies like Queensland!
I’m a bit like Bobby, lucky to last 5 mins in a sauna.
I don’t mind those infra red saunas though.

Thanks - the secret of good health is what we eat.

I've never tried an IR sauna, sauna enthusiast tend to not like them.

I actually don't like cold showers, but an ice plunge at 3deg is so frikken cold it numbs you.
For the next 6-8 hours you've got more energy than you know what to do with.

I’ve done that almost snap freeze chamber thingy (forgot what it’s called) where it just about freezes you and once I’m out with a warm towelling robe on… it’s an amazing feeling. Like a relief if anything  ;D

Yesterday was cold plunge, another 1 hour weights session, a long walk.

Today is total bludge day, well a bludge for me, a walk and a surf.

Ice bath and hiit at 530 anyone?

Title: Re: A day with Gordy

I've had an incredibly demanding week, having to be onsite at 630 or 7 nearly every day and 10 hour days.

Only one trip to the gym but still every morning I get up early enough to do a 15min hiit session then a cold plunge before I walk out the door.

Heart rate looks about normal. Mine has always been on the low side due to sport, fitness level while young. My resting rate is typically in the 50's. A little higher would be good but since it isn't a change it has always been like that it isn't an issue.

Your high rate should be a lot higher but this is only one sample, it likely is normally higher.

I think my Garmin was misreading for that hiit. Occasional I'll be going flat out and it's only showing 100 and it needs a reboot. For a decent hiit I'll get up to about 150. My resting HR is also about high 40s to mid 50s.

Thought I'd have a bit of fun with the hot day.
I parked the car in the sun for a few hours then tuned the heater on and got in, it was up to 55deg.

Car 5 mins
5 mins flat out on the assault bike
Took BP 135/73
Car 5 mins
5 more mins on the assault bike
Took BP 144/76
Cold plunge @3deg for 6 mins
Final BP, back to normal 113/73

This Topic is way cool. 8-)

Note sure if my keyboarding skills would make this post to light considering the amount of Christmas Beetles that are bombarding my screen and keyboard as if they're trying to type something X-File like rtyu9h80fnbu34qr

...er yeah, I just turn my back on the keyboard for a few minutes and look what they just did. ::) and the nerve to do it italics! Hmmm? It looks like its trying to communicate something? (*enter Twilight Zone music to background)
Excuse me while I try to decipher and translate what the Christmas Beetles are saying.
