Hello Bobby,
Well you are the only one who kept up with the tennis- so pleased the The Joker is coming along there- he is good there is no doubt about it and he has Rafa and Federer upset about that as well.Rafa went back to Spain I think but that just gives him better time to breathe I guess- no distractions- I always saw the genius in him even when he was messing around before he took it up seriously, he had some definite talent that he just played with- but who knew he would all of a sudden take himself seriously- its all good anyway. I have not been watching because my my comp has been suffering a few things and in the next couple of days it should be back to normal- thank f/uck for that!!! My daughter is still messing around in the USA but I doubt I can bring her back here- I will have to see what happens there- I should be able to watch some Tennis soon- so upset about my comp taking this time to play stupid games on me- I know the Joker will win it anyway but it would have been nice to see it. I hope you are making notes and there are times when I won't be able to even log in. So if you could record some scores that would be awesome- you are so good at it- Im counting on you - take care and enjoy the tennis Bobby !! |

Title: Re: Australian Open Post by greggerypeccary on Jan 28th, 2024 at 6:09pm My money is on Sinner. I just found out that he was born in a town very close to where my father was born. I've actually been there, and remember having lunch in a very nice little cafe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Innichen He's a great player - I hope he wins. As the Americans say, I'll be rooting for him. |

that sounds like a good thing to hold onto Pecca, but i dont have any such loyalties to either player, Im going for medvedev just because --- but anyway they both look good I think.
I don't have a feeling of excitement in me yet- hoping it will come later! |

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/01/28/sport/jannik-sinner-daniil-medvedev-2024-australian-open-spt-intl/index.html
Jannik Sinner overcame a two-set deficit to defeat Russia’s Daniil Medvedev 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-3 in a thrilling five-set final and claim the men’s Australian Open title on Sunday, becoming the first Italian man to win a grand slam since 1976. The 22-year-old’s remarkable comeback capped off a special tournament for Sinner, one in which he had defeated world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinals on route to his first-ever grand slam final and ended with his maiden major title. Such drama provided a fitting finale for a tournament which has featured an incredible 35 five-set thrillers, equaling the Open Era record for any grand slam, as Medvedev raced to a two-set lead, initially heaping pressure on the young Italian who was left defending from every corner of the court in the wake of the No. 3 seed’s precise, aggressive approach. Suddenly, he had won the third set, breaking Medvedev for the first time as the Russian served to stay in the set and the tide began to shift. That momentum carried Sinner through the fourth and fifth sets as he overturned the deficit and became the youngest male player to win the Australian Open since 2008, as well as just the third Italian man to ever win a grand slam. For Medvedev, it was a cruel echo of the 2022 Australian Open final he lost to Rafael Nadal when he had once again let a two-set lead slip. Following his defeat against Sinner, the 27-year-old made some unwanted history by becoming the first player in the Open Era to lose multiple grand slam finals in such fashion. It had been a long, gruelling route for him to even reach the final, playing in three five-set epics and spending almost 21 hours out on the court before Sunday’s clash with Sinner and, as the match crept into its closing stages, that fatigue began to show. |
