‘’ In the Regular Union Budget of Financial Year (FY) 2024-25, Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been allocated Rs 6,21,940.85 crore (approx. US $75 Billion), the highest among the Ministries.‘’
and
‘’ The Indian Armed Forces are under the management of the Ministry of Defence of the Government of India. With strength of over 1.4 million active personnel, it is the world's second-largest military force and has the world's largest volunteer army.’’

And if visiting India, serving and former members of Australia’s military will usually be made most welcome by Indian units, especially around Independence Day.
Many Indian units are particularly proud of their historic British military connections.

I fell into the company of an Armoured Colonel when I visited India back in 1990.  We were on a train together and he was delighted to travel with an ex-Digger of the Australian Army.  He invited me the next day to lunch at his mess which was splendid in it's turn out.  I was the guest of honour and enjoyed the experience immensely.  I also fell into the company of a Ghurka platoon being redeployed to Kashmir on another train.  They were fearsome little fellows who I did not to cross.  I learnt a great deal about their Kukri which they cannot draw without blooding.  It has a finger pricker on the base of the blade for that purpose (it doesn't matter whose blood it is). 8-)

Further to experiences in India, Brian, I was visiting the Red Fort in Delhi and there was a long queue to go in, l joined the end of the line and was immediately approached by an Army Lieutenant with metal detector wand, once he’d given me the once over he noticed my Returned From Active Service badge, he was Infantry as I’d once been. Result was that I got VIP treatment and bypassed the queue.
