Knives, baseball bats and machetes have replaced guns in Australia ... unfortunately they are used to stab, bash, and cut up fellow citizens

Sounds like a ridiculous justification for guns. They'd really go well up against missiles, jets and assorted bombs etc under the control of a government.

Besides, it's arguable that every government in this world is tyrannical to some degree.

I found out about government tyranny when I was conscripted, jail sentence if failing to comply ... funny thing, one of the first things they gave me was a gun
