Hospitals in shutdown.

Overwhelmed and under resource.

No wonder everyone wants out of the state!

Covid... flu... RSV.

All running rampant at the moment.

And it isn't just South Australia, it's the whole of Australia.

Australia hit by ‘big wave’ of Covid at same time as increase in flu

Just wondering how much longer our hopeless governments and "health" departments can maintain the charade that everything is fine and there's nothing to worry about?

How I (and many others) long for the 'good old days' of 2020 and 2021 when there was virtually no Covid or flu in Australia due to the border closures, lockdowns, masks, quarantine and other protections but we had to throw it all away just so the likes of Qantas, Virgin, Flight Centre and the tourism, international student and migrant 'industries' and others could go back to making lots of money while the rest of us are expected to be repeatedly infected with these dangerous respiratory viruses.

And SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) is actually more of a vascular illness than a respiratory one and is still classed as a Level 3 Biohazard which is one level above the flu and one level below things like Ebola.

And our only "protection" now being (not exceptionally effective and usually out of date by the time we get them) vaccines.

If you think things are bad now I have two words - "bird flu". Coming soon.

100 % wrong

try

diabetes , obesity and poor mental health from not taking "personal responsibility"

over 1/2 of all admissions are due to lack of "personal responsibility"  ::) ::) ::) ::)

as the population of those over 80 quadruples in the next 15 years, expect to see SEVERE health rationing, a push for voluntary assisted dying and very little elective surgery

those who dont take "personal responsibility" shall be screwed

You're right, but no amount of person responsibility can put off old age.

My mother is sitting in her wheelchair in the bedroom down the hall, and she's dying of old age - not obesity, or the effects of alcohol and/or cigarettes, or illicit drugs, or diabetes.

Just old age, which she has no control over.

The body can only last so long.

When I was a kid you'd see death notices for people in the 50s
and it would say they "died of old age."
Medical advances means people are living to a much older age.

I bet even in the 1940s, you would say that dying in your 50s is too young to be dying of old age. Diseases like typhoid fever, measles, scarlet fever, whooping cough, diphtheria, pneumonia, tuberculosis, diarrhosal diseases, appendicitis and puerperal conditions would have been common place. These are things that would not happen in modern civilisation as their are cures and advanced medical techniques to avoid them.

People used to die of simple infections because there were no antibiotics.

e.g. -
the bacteria from a tooth or gum infection could get into your blood
and attack your heart muscle or give you septicemia -
blood poisoning by bacteria.

So - a toothache - and a few days later you're dead.

Which is still a good argument for why basic dental care should be covered by Medicare.

There's an add doing the rounds for one of the current affairs shows where they claim that today in Australia,  someone will be born who will live to be 150yrs of age. I think the episode airs tonight.

Unless you can slow the ageing process, nobody is going to live to be 150 years old. By the time I reach my death bed, I think the record oldest person will be 130 years old. So, that person would be at least 90 years old right now.

what the point of living to 150 years.

there are people on this very forum who have sacrificed a decade to posting about trump

thats over 10 % of their life.

if you arent on the narrow road to success, an extra few decades will be an extra few decades to
pleasure yourself, get fat, take, be a weirdo, complain and gossip.

would such a person eventually reach spiritual enlightenment?

do you think god wants to hang out witha bunch of weirdos, selfish takers and complainers?

mother nature wont allow this to happen.

it is anti life , anti evolution.

why would nature waste resources on selfish weirdo takers

it aint gunna happen

Well, in my particular case that would be another 83 years for coming here and proving you're wrong about everything you post.

Pointless? Yes, I know. But a lot of fun for me.

Actually, it's another 83 years and just under 2 months. I turn 67 on August 5th.

:)

150 years is still another 105 years for me. I don't want to live beyond 80. I will get my affairs in order after I retire in 25 years.

Have you got your mother's maiden name and the name of your favourite pet to tell us, Carl?
