The Currawong.

It is a native Australian bird.

There is one here, where i live, which if it sees that i have my back door open wide,
it will stand just outside, waiting for me to present it with a small wedge of apple.

"Can i have some apple again please."

There will be more than one.

Quote:
Currawongs are dominant birds that can drive off other species, especially when settling around an area used or inhabited by people.

That's actually pretty cool.

I've never seen a platypus in the wild.

My favourite animal: Chas Chandler.

I have seen ripples but no platypusses.

Dogs as favorite animal has been a firm favorite for 40K years!

How do Ibis keep snakes away? ;D

Ibis are indigenous bird to Australia.

They have evolved to hunt and kill ( like free driver 😄) snakes .

Look at the beautiful long curve beak?

Perfect for grabbing a snake but keeping its head at a distance.

Ibis are highly underrated.

They clean up a lot of human rubbish but they remain a snake attacking machine.

Don't stir me up :D

I'm happy to post links.

Very valuable bird that has learnt to not only tolerance towards humans but we live in a mostly positive balance.

Bats are a different story  >:(

White ibis are carnivores. They eat a wide variety of terrestrial (land) and aquatic (water) animals. Their preferred diet consists of crayfish, mussels and insects. Frogs, fish, crustaceans, earthworms, snakes and mice are also common prey items in their natural habitat.

Ffs, now I'm going on a Ibis tangent  :'(

They are awesome birds!

;D ;D What a load of old tosh

They are in the main worms, grubs, insects like grasshopper & cricket eaters as well as freshwater crayfish

Their long curved beak is designed to probe into grass & soft soils and has a rounded nub on th end ... it's not a sharp sabre.

any snake they may tackle would be small ... like a large worm or legless lizard.

White Ibis have become rubbish tip & suburban scrap scavengers .... but Straw Necked & Glossy Ibis have not.

There is nothing mentioned about them having a regular diet of snakes or chasing/keeping snakes away.

Brown snake. It was checking the chook pen for mice and eyeballed me when I squatted next to it. Then it negotiated an understanding by displaying its fangs, sideways so I could note their size. After that it turned and moved halfway to me, eyes fixed on mine. I stepped back one pace, done deal, snake wins.  She slowly turned and ignored me and went back to the mouse hole.

Had to google that one, interesting animal.

Asking for freediver- does it taste like chicken?

I know I should probably read my own thread but does anyone else like humans?

They are a very broad range of breeds I know but I will rate them in the top ten on my list.

I rate that list  other than the squirrel which I've had no contact with .

I assume it's nothing like our possums?

Maybe I misunderstood the meaning of the topic.

I just wrote those animals that I like.

I do not eat these animals and do not keep them as pets.

We don't have possums. They probably represent only a very distant analogue to squirrels.

In those parks where people often offer them food (mostly nuts), squirrels descend from trees and run closer to people.
