Title: Should casino’s be exempted from Australian law? Post by Daves2017 on Sep 6th, 2024 at 10:44pm
https://www.couriermail.com.au/news/opinion/queensland-governments-star-offer-has-to-be-oneoff-deal/news-story/9c1bc3c1117599f613698884326e6390?amp&nk=d356e490b8acbcdf86ddd990a4fbba6e-1725626955
So we have the crown and the star both unfit to hold license, unable to pay taxes and full of corruption but somehow, our governments choose to not only turn a blind eye to it all but support and now fund them?!? In Brisbane the Star has opened and immediately gone broke, serious questions are being asked about how they gained their alcohol license and the Qld government is doing all it can to not comment. Now the star after being unable to find either a buyer or any bank willing to trust them has announced they want a 300 million loan from the Qld state government. Both labor and the lnp seem happy too agree. “Hong Kong billionaires tried to become majority holders in The Star but backed off Chow Tai Fook Enterprises approached the NSW casino regulator about taking a major stake in the casino, but pulled out after learning about probity checks.” “ smh So when you mismanaged your corrupt business so badly you can’t sell or get credit on the open market. No worries, the Australian government will always give you the money! Unbelievably sad how corrupt our government has become! |

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/article/2024/sep/04/star-casino-brisbane-queensland-tax-relief Should be readable? My local Thailand restaurant employees 30 people and is desperately struggling to stay viable. They aren’t connected with organise crime and happy too pay the taxes, levy’s, fees and charges all small business must do to all three levels of government. Why doesn’t giggles help them? They know how businesses and governments work from there time growing up in Thailand. They will happily give the politicians bribes too if they don’t have to pay tax! |

Let’s say instead of bailing out ( again) a corrupt casino operator who Is halted on the stock exchange because of its poor business decisions and the Chinese won’t touch with a stick because it’s so on the nose.
If giggles or the lnp care so much about the 3000 jobs? Give each worker a hundred grand each. Adds up to the same 300 million and do much more for the economy than another badly managed corrupt casino? |

“Star Entertainment Group has told the market it is reviewing its liquidity position after days of silence following its suspension from trading for not posting its financial results.
The Star was supposed to lodge its financial accounts for the 12 months to June 30 last week but did not do so. It said at the time it was because it had received a copy of the second Bell inquiry report into its culture and it was still assessing its financial outlook. The ASX then moved to suspend the group from trading for breaching reporting obligations. The headlines have been dominated by reports The Star has pleaded with banks, governments and investors to help it with its financial troubles which came to a head after costs associated with its new casino precinct in Brisbane exploded. The Star told the ASX late on Wednesday it had engaged “various advisers…in relation to its liquidity position in light of adverse trading and other conditions”. “The Company confirms that the advice being provided has extended, from time to time, to considering the application of provisions of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) (including the safe harbour provisions).” Safe Harbour provisions are enacted to protect a company’s board from being personally liable for debts in the event it cannot stay solvent. It’s often used when groups are considering a last-ditch restructure.“ “ reddit news It’s unbelievable our taxes are going too be given to this failed corrupt business. Hang your head in shame Qld labor. While Brisbane is full of tent cities and homeless and crime this is how you waste 300 million of our money. Shame giggles, shame! |

Why not just make all foreigners who own gambling dens exempt from Australian law?
Perhaps declare cities and regions as lawless lands. |
