At the exact time of the Equinoxes. if you were standing at the North Pole (with a perfectly flat horizon) you'd see one half of the Sun on the horizon and someone standing at the South Pole would see the other half of the Sun on their horizon.  8-)

'Wet Season' & 'Dry Season'. Dry season is April to October, and wet season is from November to March.

Today, anywhere north of Gladstone experiences middle-of-Spring weather. I know this, because I went to Gladstone the other night. Four weeks until Summer starts.

We are having similar climactic conditions to that of 2015's weather. I was surprised that we (CQlders) did not get hit with a cyclone nearby earlier this year. Those blustery winds we had the other week should have given us pause to think about the likely monsoonal season being that of heavy rainfall and an early summer.

I was in Darwin just before Xmas one year and I couldn't believe the strong rain fall.
You couldn't drive the car in it - you had to pull over to a petrol station or somewhere.

That is torrential rainfall conditions. We see that in CQ once a year, at the very least. 300mm of rainfall in 12 hours is considered torrential rainfall.

You might see 75mm of rainfall in 3 hours. That is the minimum amount of rainfall you need for "torrential rainfall".

In fact, it needs to be about 50mm inside an hour to be considered "torrential".

you still couldn't see anything and the road would turn into a river.

Not that uncommon up there, I had to pull over a couple of times, HK Holden, 1984. The pre wet season afternoon drenchings were nice after a hard day brick paving in the heat and humidity around swimming pools it was considered rude to jump in.

Yes -  and I wondered why the gutters by the road were half a meter deep -
no one had to tell me - I found out for myself.   :)
