Title: Australia Puts Obsolete Military Vehicles for Sale
Post by tallowood on Sep 23rd, 2024 at 12:58pm
The Australian government is reportedly auctioning off decommissioned military vehicles despite them being keenly sought by Ukraine.
...
According to local reports, a long-range patrol vehicle used by the Special Air Services in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars was sold for 113,000 Australian dollars.
...
Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organizations co-chair Kateryna Argyrou said it was a “short-sighted and baffling” move to see retired military equipment being sold online when they could be useful for Ukraine on the battlefield.

What is really baffling is why AFUO does not buy the vehicles for Ukraine themselves and insist that Australian tax payers have to do it.
Australian government already has wasted over $1.1 billion taxpayers money to corrupted Ukrainian state.

Were they offered to Ukraine?

They bulldozed the helicopters into the ground rather than let Ukraine have them.
It turns out there was nothing wrong with them.

Already placed me order - need one to negotiate the supermarket car park... but I wanted the M2 on the top and at least a Minimi facing forward - something to deter road ragers..

I was looking at a tank or similar...LAV ... just the thing...

Special Air Service - not Services.... and they're not paratroopers...

AFUO didn't offer to buy them. Why not?

It wasn't about buying them it is was about giving them to Ukraine for free
rather than destroying them.

If they wanted to buy them, they would get them.

BTW, what did happen to  $710 million worth of Bushmasters they were given for free?

There are photos of 19 lost Bushmasters. Some were hit but not destroyed, they could have been evacuated and fixed, but why bother when Australian taxpayers give more for free. Why do people not value the things they get for free?
