The US homicide/manslaughter rate fell by 11.6% this year alone. Crime is at historic lows across the board.

Violent crime is down over 20% since the last administration. Since 1992 - forget about it.

This is what happens when wages rise, cities gentrify, and you do all sorts of small things - like remove lead from petrol, increase urban surveillance and develop new DNA technologies to solve crime.

None of this, it needs to be said, is attributed to "tough on crime" sentencing. It's a multi-pronged approach - some the economy, some community surveillance, some technological developments in police enforcement, and much of it by accident.

The US, like the rest of the developed world, has experienced an unprecedented crime drop, and all since 1992.

Crime rates are dropping, and it's largely because inner city kids don't have to inhale so much lead.

BTW, lead is being phased out everywhere. Old homes painted with lead white (a kind of paint) are progressively being replaced with plasterboard (plaster inside cardboard) and painted with cheap titanium paint.

The main use of lead nowadays, is in car batteries. More expensive cars use lithium batteries.

I am not sure about decline, rather a transition.   Over the last 30 to 40 years, USA have transitioned from an industrial superpower to a financial / economic superpower. 

Right now, the world is divided roughly on lines of 3 super powers.   Russian is the resource superpower.  China is the manufacturing superpower.  And USA is the financial and economic superpower.   USA is still by far the strongest, simply because money can buy both resource and products.   And both Russia and China are depending on US money.

As I understand it.  In order for say the Chinese to buy or sell any goods to any other country, they would have to trade in US dollars.   The same with Russians.

Used to be but after US weaponised dollar more and more countries turned away from the dollar and euro in international transactions and relied more on China's yuan and Russia ruble.

At the and of WWII the British pound was superceded by the US dollar as the price of support.
The US dollar will similarly superceded. That will be the end of US supremacy, as it was the end of the British one.
