Title: Australia Day
Post by Armchair_Politician on Dec 3rd, 2024 at 8:41am
I am really sick and tired of these attacks on Australia Day that are now happening every year in the lead up to the day by "woke" morons seeking to impose their beliefs upon everyone else. Can you imagine going to Indonesia and seeing them not celebrate Ramadan for fear of insulting non-Muslims? Can you imagine going to the United States and seeing them not celebrate Independence Day for fear of insulting the British? It's just absurd. What occurred on January 26, 1788 for better or worse is part of our history and helped make Australia the wonderful country it is today.

The landing of Captain Cook in 1788 happened at a time when the world and the way governments behaved (especially with regard to newly discovered lands and peoples) was very different to how the world is today and none of us were around then. Such a thing would not happen today, with proof lying in the fact that there are many untouched tribes in remote parts of the world today that are deliberately left alone so they can continue their way of life. It was just a different time. Today, Australia Day is a day to celebrate being Australian and living in this great country and being able to enjoy the way of life we have available to us today.

The supermarkets have pushed Hallowe'en for every $, and it's Yank. We deserve 26th Jan with kegs of rum, gunshots and whipping. There was an orgy when the females came ashore and god save the king.

It’s very simple. If you don’t want to celebrate Australia Day, that’s fine. But don’t stop or try to stop others from doing so.

Australia Day is a celebration of political establishment here.

Since then, the Media has hijacked and corrupted it.
Hence why no-one likes it anymore.
Ironic huh ::)

The First Fleet wasn't corrupt, it won fair and square.
HMS Sirius had 20 guns, Supply 7 and Scarborough 20. The 212 Marines had muskets, total 259 minimum.

Aboriginal people are known to have occupied mainland Australia for at least 65,000 years. It was a Monday or Thursday.

‘’ Halloween, or Hallowe'en[7][8] (less commonly known as Allhalloween,[9] All Hallows' Eve,[10] or All Saints' Eve),[11] is a celebration observed in many countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It is at the beginning of the observance of Allhallowtide,[12] the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.[3][13][14’’
From Wikipedia.
It is more associated with Scotland than the US.

Isn't Black Friday Sale the national Aborigine Day?
Something they can afford without sponging on taxpayers

So what is another good date to celebrate Australia's entry into the modern world?

Can you nominate a significant historical date from the 40,000 years before 1788?

Get used to it - it's raised everywhere.

Standby for "There are hot-cross buns in the grocery stores already!".

Australia Day celebrates the founding of the New South Wales colony.  Until 1988, Australia's other states celebrated various days as "Australia Day".  I would suggest that 1 Janurary when we were Federated into a nation for the first time.  25 April would be another day to celebrate Australia Day.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   ::) ::)

Have you seen Scottish Hallowee'n in Australia, before say the last 10 years? What did supermarkets sell for the Scottish custom? They've created the skull, spider and pumpkin sales for $, to follow Yanks.  What we need are some PR gimmicks to get Oz Day into profits.
