With those eyes and the problem he has causing it there is the possibility that he has never actually seen Kimberly.

His gun problem may be that he would have ticked that form saying his eyes wouldn't have cause to look like they do.

Moist bloodshot eyes closed because of extreme sensitivity to light, His probable relative seems to be a witch maybe he is a vampire.
