Title: Trump loses in court ... again! Post by greggerypeccary on Dec 31st, 2024 at 8:59am Appeals court upholds Trump sexual abuse finding in E Jean Carroll case A US appeals court has upheld a jury's finding in a civil case that Donald Trump sexually abused and defamed columnist E Jean Carroll. The court rejected claims by Trump's lawyers that a judge had made multiple decisions that spoiled the trial, including by permitting two other women who had accused Trump of sexually abusing them to testify. |

When Trump said
When you are a star they let you do It He was speaking truthfully He does tell a lot of fibs But that is not one of them For people who are not a star Such as the original poster They think that the way to seduce a woman Is to buy her lots of flowers and chocolates And be a real gentleman Unfortunately that just makes you seem desperate And it makes you seem low status So the best you will ever achieve Is to be put in the friend zone It was unfortunate for Trump That the jury was probably made up of Many Beta males Had there been 12 Brazilian backpackers on the jury They would have immediately understood That Trump's explanation was totally rational Trump should have asked to be judged by a jury of his peers Not by a jury of weak sauce incel losers |

Hard to disagree with anything there. Enabling rapists is certainly nothing to be proud of. A federal appeals court upheld the jury’s verdict finding Donald Trump sexually abused writer E. Jean Carroll and denied his request for a new trial. Trump challenged the $5 million civil verdict alleging the trial judge made numerous errors, including allowing testimony of two other women who claimed Trump sexually assaulted them. The appeals court concluded the trial judge didn’t abuse his discretion in ruling on evidence. Even if he made any errors, they said, given the strength of Carroll’s case, they are not persuaded Trump’s rights were affected to warrant a new trial. |

All these women came out of the woodwork only after he ran and won in 2016.
The Caroll incident supposedly happened in 1996, ie 20 YEARS earlier. She never said anything about it publicly until she had a book to sell, and then only sued Trump for denying it, ie a civil case of supposed defamation. The helpful NY Dem machine introduced a law to extend the statute of limitation so they - yes, the Dems, not Carroll - could add battery to her defamation case. Ludicrous. |

Ee-gad, Greggery. If I was E Jean, I'd sue him again. She can sue him for sueing George Stephanopoulos too. ABC were pathetic for settling that. The only reason they did is Disney didn't want the hassle. They left their journalist hanging high and dry for repeating the exact words of a judge. The minions have been going to town on it ever since. They're claiming it as a legal win. If I was E Jean, I'd be sueing the pants off the Steve Bannons and Joe Rogans who keep pretending ABC's settlement proves the big fella didn't stick it in. With the big fella in the White House and SCOTUS giving him blanket immunity, it's time to bring truth back to the fake news the old fashioned way. LAWFARE !!! |

No, dear boy, all those women came out of the woodwork when the big fella lied. E Jean, Karen McDougal, Stormy Daniels. Stormy, a Republican all her life, was literally forced to tell her side of the story and defend herself. What did she get? Detailed death threats, going into how many stab wounds they'd give her and which friends' cocks they'd use to plug her with. So cute. Kind of makes calls to rip off little old ladies' hijabs sound tame, eh? So 2014. You've come a long way over the past decade, dear boy, but do you know? Back then, you were such a zealot. Muselman this, Muselman that. Now you just do whatever your DL says. Much easier, no? |

Not supposedly - it actually happened. A US federal appeals court has upheld a $8-million verdict that E Jean Carroll won against Donald Trump when a jury found the US president-elect liable for sexually abusing and later defaming the former magazine columnist. A unanimous three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals 2nd Circuit in Manhattan rejected Trump's argument that the trial judge should not have let jurors hear evidence about the Republican's alleged past sexual misconduct, making the trial and verdict unfair. Surely you're not going to tell us it's all a big conspiracy involving all the courts, all the jurors and all the Judges. The pathological liar who brags about sexually abusing women is telling the truth and everyone else is lying? Sure, Jan ::) |

Title: Re: Trump loses in court ... again! Post by Frank on Jan 1st, 2025 at 11:41am The judge, Lewis A Kaplan, rejected the 11th-hour offer by Trump’s legal team to provide a DNA sample to rebut claims Carroll first made publicly in a 2019 book. The judge also noted that the report did not find evidence of sperm cells and that reopening the dispute would raise a “complicated new subject into this case that both sides elected not to pursue over a period of years”. He said a positive match of Trump’s DNA to that on the dress would prove only that there had been an encounter between Trump and Carroll on a day when she wore the dress, but would not prove or disprove that a rape occurred and might prove entirely inconclusive. its hilarious frank that gweg karnal and phil still cant see that people only voted for trump because the alternative (the people just like gweg karnal and trump) are absolutley despised by the majority of people who voted.
trump merely cashed in on the repulsion for leftie intellectuals. if there was no gweggy karnal phil bwian and dna , trump would be flat out getting elected as head of the local schools tuckshop. but he sensed the mood of the electorate and then defined himself as "i am nothing like gweggy karnal brian phil and dna" and the people said "yippee, we freaking hate those dickheads and everything about them. lets get out the vote" and they STILL cant see it cognitive dissonance at a meta level ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |

Title: Re: Trump loses in court ... again! Post by greggerypeccary on Jan 2nd, 2025 at 4:22pm Yes, Trump won the popular vote and the electoral college. Yes, Republicans won the Senate and the House. But, contrary to both Republican talking points and breathless headlines and hot takes from leading media outlets (“resounding”, “rout”, “runaway win”), there was really nothing at all historic or huge about the margin of victory. There was no “landslide”. There was no “blowout”. There was no “sweeping” mandate given to Trump by the electorate. The numbers don’t lie. First, consider the popular vote. Yes, Trump became the first Republican for two decades to win the popular vote. However, per results from CNN, the Cook Political Report, and the New York Times, he did not win a majority of the vote. Barack Obama did in both 2008 and 2012. Joe Biden did in 2020. But Donald Trump failed to do so in 2024. And the former president’s margin of victory over Harris is a miniscule 1.6 percentage points, “smaller than that of every winning president since 1888 other than two: John F Kennedy in 1960 and Richard M Nixon in 1968”, as an analysis in the New York Times noted last month. In fact, in the 55 presidential elections in which the popular vote winner became president, 49 of them were won with a margin bigger than Trump’s in 2024. |

Consider the electoral college. Trump won 312 votes, which is 42 more than is needed to secure victory in the electoral college. But it’s still far fewer than Bill Clinton won in 1992 (370) and 1996 (379) and far fewer than Barack Obama won in 2008 (365) and 2012 (332). And it is pretty similar to what Trump himself won in 2016 (304) and what Biden won in 2020 (306). Trump’s margin of victory in the electoral college ranks 44 out of the 60 presidential elections in American history. |

You're mistaken, dear. They're not conservatives. Conservatives preserve institutions, it's what they do. Your DL is the very antithesis of this. Conservatives are chaps like King Charles, those who live and embody enduring values. Religion, family, the crown or nation state. They place these things over and above themselves. There is a selfless aspiration in conservatism - conservatives die for these principles. Conservative families are full of fallen soldiers who went off to fight for their countries. Like the Australian conservative Barry Humphries, conservatives prioritize heritage. Barry shared Charles' love of classical architecture, and helped save buildings all over Melbourne and Sydney in the 70s and 80s. Their instinct isn't a rebuke of modernity or about preserving the past at all costs, but about keeping the best aspects of the past. Imagine knocking down the QVB building in Sydney to build a council carpark. Barry Humphries joined the movement and helped to stop that. Your DL does the opposite. He spent much of the 1980s erecting eyesores. His entire business model was about kicking people out of their neighbourhoods and building prefabricated concrete boxes used for hotels and casino carparks. Rather than do his military service, he faked bone spurs. For your DL, selfishness is part of his aesthetic. If he has any values at all, it's self-preservation and greed - the very antithesis of conservative values. It's in his book, it's in the trailer to the Apprentice. Donald Trump still sells the greed-is-good mantra of the 1980s yuppies. Ron is a Catholic. He's aligned to conservatism through Opus Dei, the Vatican connections he has in what, if anything, is best described as a globalist deep state cabal. For Ron, MAGA is a grift. That's why he'll always be loathed by the base. They've figured out they don't need Rupert's picks anymore and they've started turning on the try-hards. Lindsay Graham, another conservative Trump grifter, is out too. Trump is a fascist. There's no real doubt about this anymore, he no longer tries to hide it. Fascism is about the leader. As Mussolini once said, what is fascism? I am fascism. Trump has said exactly the same thing about MAGA, another term for the authoritarian leadership cult that is fascism. Fascists are hyper-nationalists, unite through a common enemy, talk in terms of destruction and live or die through the Leader. I can't think of any fascist movement that has outlived its leader. Mussolini, Hitler, the Perons, Franco. Fascism is merely a cult of personality - when Trump goes, MAGA goes. JD's not a true conservative, he's just cast his lot in with DL. No conservative makes a seamless transition to MAGA. The conservatives here - Sprint, Armchair and the former Longweekend - know exactly what Trump's up to and want no part of it. In MAGAland, conservatives are known as RINOs. Give me a good conservative any day. I'm not aligned, but I appreciate the philosophy. I'd encourage you to look it up. My own instincts are conservative, even if my political outlook isn't. My liberalism clashes with the groupthink of conservatism. Sure, Barry Humphries shows that conservatives don't need to be drones following orders, and I've come to learn the merits of following orders by working in structured organisations. I've spent time living with monks, not sure if it's for me, but there's definitely a benefit to breaking down the components and sharing the division of labour. You might be conservative by instinct, but you obey.DL. This is not enough to make you a conservative, particularly in your political consciousness. This chops and changes with one key constancy: it's directed against the leftards. You can't have a consistent political viewpoint merely in opposition to someone or something. That's being a reactionary. And yet, I'd argue that's exactly where America is at and where things have gone wrong, driven by the internet. This site used to be about politics. We used to discuss the merits of particular policies - stopping the boats was popular once, as was countering terrorism. We'd discuss what problems we were trying to solve, and at one point, we'd have moderators to step in and tell the trolls off. Before long, an avalanche of fake news seeped in. It started with Vlad, then your MAGA friends learned the tricks and took over. Soon, instead of discussing solutions to problems, we were left with countering foreign-made lies. After a while, these became a given. The conversation became dominated by increasingly implausible fabrications, exaggerations and attacks. Vlad's game went mainstream, and by the time the US election of 2024 came round, the discussion was dominated by news of fake trans Olympic athletes and Haitians stealing pets. Imagine, I can still remember a time when we discussed mild-mannered things like how mean DL was for standing too close to Hilary in the presidential debate. We are now in a time where DL won't do any debates or serious interviews at all. Releasing his tax returns? Not even asked. Ah, the good old days, but do you know? I'm far more conservative than your political idols. You? |

If there's any pushback, she can organize a few tourists to break into the Capitol, shit in the pot plants and stick their feet on Nancy's desk. She can then become prez and pardon herself. I'm pretty sure we can call this a "win/win", no? We certainly can't call it a crime. How do we know? Aquascoot said. |

Fascists can be different. I'd argue Mussolini was just a self-obsessed grifter. His conversion from socialism was a part of that. He saw he could get the Catholics on board if he went right wing. I don't think there was much more to Mussolini than a power grab. Hitler was an ideological zealot. He had dangerous beliefs. I'm not sure if you could call a project to purify the German blood principles, but sure, he was more ethically consistent than Mussolini. Trump has less ideological interest than either. That alone makes him dangerous - he has no principles at all. I imagine some could suggest he represents a form of pragmatic American fascism, but no, he sings to the Christians just like Mussolini. Also like Mussolini, Trump has been able to unite these disparate forces - the Bernie voters, the Bible belt, the aspirational Hispanic, Cuban and even Mexican voters. He's even helped to steer the Bible Belt's move from what was once a band of conservative evangelicals towards a new form of Christian white nationalism. Trump himself hasn't done this, Christian TV has, just like Fox News got him the working class. By the time Rupert soured on MAGA in 2021 it was too late. Fox News were happy to pay nearly a billion in defamation payouts to keep the audience on side. This is despite what Tucker and everybody else at Fox were saying about loathing him with a passion after Jan 6. You'd expect Rupert to make a business decision like that, but the pastors and CTV? There's no precedent for the Bible Belt's descent into full-blown fascism, not even in the 1930s. The Christians have gone from being refugee-loving Billy Graham evangelicals to full-blown haters. Many are from Central and South America themselves. No one hates refugees like established immigrants, each migrant wave looking down on the new arrivals, in spite of their typically generous, working class Christian values. Trump has been able to exploit this cognitive dissonance like plenty of other third world dictators, but he's an outlier in America. Urban Americans are genuinely open and welcoming people. They value immigration too, and for good pragmatic reasons. Out of all the things that have made America great, it's mass immigration. Even George Bush knew this, and was careful never offend such a valuable voting block. Trump has been able to have his cake and eat it, appealing to aspirational migrants for their vote, and dumping on illegals eating cats and dogs. Mexicans in Mexico hate him. In the US, it's a little more complicated. Either way, Trump is the most successful American fascist since Huey Long in the 1930s. The thing is, MAGA can only function under Trump. When he goes, MAGA goes. The Republicans don't own Trump, he owns them. Huey Long, by the way, was a Democrat. As you pointed out about Mussolini, left and right can be permeable distinctions when it comes to fascism. SEND THEM BACK !!! |

The reality is that we are witnessing the complete and total unraveling of the disastrous foreign policy that began under Obama and was picked up again by Biden, the perverse effect of which was to strengthen both Iran and Russia. The series of blunders that consigned Syria to a hideous and protracted civil war and opened the door to Russia in both Syria and Ukraine began between July 2012 and August 2013, when the White House said that if Assad used chemical weapons he would be deemed to have “crossed a red line.” The regime used chemical weapons anyway. And the White House’s threat was empty; in August 2013, Obama decided to call off the planned retaliatory air strikes. Worse, Obama then allowed the Russian government to broker a deal under which Assad handed over (some of) his chemical weapons. On September 10, 2013, Obama announced that the United States was no longer the “world’s policeman.” Five months later, Russian troops occupied Crimea, the annexation of which followed on March 18. In September 2015, President Vladimir Putin sent not only three dozen aircraft but also 1,500 troops to Latakia, Syria, and warships to the Caspian Sea. On Obama’s watch, Putin established himself not only as the proud owner-occupier of the Crimean peninsula and a power broker in the Middle East but also as a troublemaker in Africa, hiring out the mercenaries of the Wagner Group to the nastiest regimes he could find south of the Sahara. The signature achievement of Obama’s foreign policy was supposed to be his much-vaunted Iran deal. But the upshot of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was that the Iranians took the money they made from sanctions relief and diverted it to the likes of Assad, Hamas, and Hezbollah. https://www.thefp.com/p/niall-ferguson-the-vibe-shift-goes-global-assad-putin-trump |

Yes. What's so unusual about that? Are you not familiar with the law in Wisconsin? Most of Wisconsin’s largest cities, including Milwaukee and Green Bay, count absentee ballots in one centralized location. The count of Milwaukee’s absentee ballots, for example, began Tuesday morning and was live-streamed for people to view throughout the day on YouTube. But Wisconsin law requires that the results of those absentee votes be reported all at once, Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe explained Wednesday. “With that you’re going to get the result sets all as one, with all the absentees,” Wolfe said when asked about the overnight spike in vote totals. According to The Associated Press, in Milwaukee, the state’s most populous area, the city didn’t finish counting its roughly 169,000 absentees until around 3 a.m. When they did, Milwaukee police escorted the city’s elections director from a central counting location to the county courthouse to deliver thumb drives with the data, and it was immediately folded into the overall count. This is pretty straight forward stuff, Frank. You're starting to sound like a conspiracy theorist. |

2024 was won by Trump beyond the margin of steal that we saw in 2020.
Electoral law changes in the last 4 years, in response to the real and perceived cheating in 2020, have played a part. This time we had a result on the night. in 2020 they were filling out Biden ballots for days and days after election day. Also importantly, in my view, 4 years of Biden Harris purgatory evaporated any residual nostalgia for a 4th Obama term and also weeded out all the backstabbing never-Trumper Republicans who were active in 2016-20. |
