I offer you a challenge. Get out in your local park, and bowl a ball with an arm extended like this bloke, straight, flexed, as his is as he runs in.
Don't change a thing about that, and see if without bending your elbow you can move your wrist as he does. I can't. No-one can bowl a ball at pace if they release the ball with an unbent elbow. Now, I know that the MCC Rules allow some angle of bend, but is he at the edge of the envelope? I'm not saying he is illegal. I am saying I can't bowl a ball with a rigid, straight, hyper extended arm at the point of delivery. The ball just flops out. |

Good question. I've wondered about his action. He's not a slinger like Jeff Thompson. I think he has a whip action.
It does look like his arm and wrist bend, but like a snake in motion. He's getting optimal speed with minimal run up and action. A bit suss about Bumrub. |

Australians have no right to question any bowlers actions after being right about Murali.

Murali was throwing the ball when he bowled the Doosra as tests proved....The ICC changed the laws to accomodate the chucker!!! Quote:

It's been a big pub discussion .... me not ever playing cricket except in the back yard & the odd social game - listened ... several blokes called him a chucker ... like Murali.... different action but still a chucker. |

Maybe I didn't say it right, if any Australian questions Bumrah's action it will be immediately drowned out with calls of racism and jealously and only because Bumrah is too good for them. At least Bumrah is a good bloke, I like watching him. |

I haven't heard anyone question the legality of Bumra's action....He is unusual but not breaking any laws??? :-? :-? :-? |

That's rules not laws - and since Murali the ICC has changed the rules from a maximum 5 degree bend in elbow to 15 degrees. So changing the rules to accommodate chuckers instead of making them change their action & bowl within the rules. But we can't have that because it's wacist. |

Exactly. Leroy ought just shut on every matter except his Wife about whom he chose to post. No-one can call him on that stuff. He is 100% wrong on all other issues. |

Get out in your back yard and try to bowl a ball with a totally stiff hyper-extended arm. Test it yourself. |

I'm calling it into question. I cannot assert it is illegal but I do ask you to try it yourself. Bowl a cricket ball at your 4 year old Grand Son and retain a totally stiff hyper extended bowling arm. The ball will just about only flop out. |

Thats well within the umpires call. But seriously think what would happen if we did hear "No ball". |

I think that after the entire Muttiah Muralitharan chucking saga, umpires are extremely hesitant to call a bowler for chucking. I can't say I blame them, but I hope that they would call it if they believe they see it. |

I don't think they can call it on the field anymore, it has to be referred to the umpires panel. |
