The pronatalism movement, mostly populated by religious conservatives and immigration opponents, is built on the belief that lower fertility rates will lead to economic and political catastrophe. A lot of the biggest supporters of high immigration are large companies with large labour forces. The reason - high immigration keeps wages down. They are the ones fuelling an irrational fear of a stable or declining population.
