as someone who gets a fire through his property most years, i am appalled by the stupidity of the people of outer brisbane
all thru areas like daisy hill, mt cotton, shailer park, kenmore hills, ferny hills, bellbowrie, mt crosby , upper coomera, the tallebudgera valley, maudsland i see people who have built on the top of a ridge line with trees extending to their decks in many cases no one near me has less then 100m of cleared paddock near their house (except for a few johnny come lately green nutters). how do counsils allow this? and they better do lots of controlled burns or they are screwed |

It's called burn off turnover.
They'll be burnt out and the properties sell again to other temporary owners. |

When 'we' lived on the Far south coast we would often drive past - on the highways on the way home - houses perched at the top of tall cliffs with trees all around... lovely views etc... but a fire with a wind behind it and your ass is ash in five seconds.
Also - down Cobargo way once - we drove into the back blocks to buy some excess water pipe and fittings for the property - on the way in and out I commented that in the event of a major fire nobody would get out - guess what happened during the Summer of Bushfires... some of those people died. Lovely to live among the trees and far from the madding crowd .. but you have to do so with sense. |

The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu.
Better known as the Jammu. Once burnt $500m in cash in their fireplace. It was a traumatic experience for those who watched the footage of them do it. This is why they want a cashless society. |

Wytaliba village was the perfect example of how not to live in the Australian bush, the community was built with tree preservation in mind.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-11-14/nsw-bushfires-inside-small-town-wiped-out-wytaliba/11702106 ‘’ But the overriding sentiment from the community is to return and rebuild — these aren't people who will give up on the bush that easily.’’ And currently they are hugging the regenerated trees. |
