Title: Biden Warns of Tech Oligarchy
Post by MeisterEckhart on Jan 16th, 2025 at 8:41pm
Biden warns US on verge of tech billionaire 'oligarchy'

And he's not wrong...

From Peter Thiel's eccentric, yet successful, application for a New Zealand passport - then his unsuccessful building permit applications to build a 'Fuhrer Bunker' style dwelling in its South Island, to Elon Musk's lambasting foreign heads of government - using his almost monopoly of social media...

To Zuckerberg's 'welcome' into the 'tech bro' fold...

The US, and the world, will soon be reckoning with an oligarchy the size, combined power and wealth of which the world has never seen.

So, a politically biliteral oligarchy, then.

Thats just the orchestra with Trump as the conductor. The weak and lazy bureaucrats are about to be feasted on. Now you have to produce to get paid, not just go to cocktail parties. Now is the time to show why you should be working for the government and not believe its a right to be paid by the government. The dems have loaded the public service with lackys to do their bidding and its going to end.

Gordon has always stood up for political correctness.

He's no Trump man, that I can assure you. Do you know what you are, Gordon?

You're a naughty old tourist. You hate those globalist elites ever so, no?

Not always cocktail parties, sometimes they would fly to a foreign holiday resort to research why they used 750ml cartons for milk instead of quarts. Six days of dinners and lunches and flying business class.

In recent years. it was just Murdoch who prided himself on 'always backing the winner' regardless of the side...

Musk, Thiel, Zuckerberg and a conga line of other billionaires - tech and otherwise - will pool their resources, which would pass a trillion dollars, maybe two, and consolidate their power such that no president or their administration will be able to break it up without a civil war.

If Eisenhower were brought back to life, he'd think it was 1961.

What seems to be the problem, has the world not worked that way since money was discovered.

Politicians have always had an ear for the richest, Soros ring a bell.

Zuckerberg was just fine when he followed dems orders.

I was brought up in a middle class family in the bronx and had a part time job at Mcdonalds but I have since been unburdened by what has been. So you asked me a question and I urge you to ask questions because thats what we need to do is ask questions. I have a good record bringing people to court and putting them in jail.

The flaw was their gross misunderstanding of regal power. They created a presidency that they thought could be contained, but who can rule by decree... so long as their decrees are respected and obeyed. Turns out it's likely not unconstitutional for a president to pardon himself, even preemptively.

Ultimately from democratic institutions. Unlikely by force... but in the same way the industrial-military-congressional complex took power from them.

I'll take another bow for re-introducing into discussion the term 'robber barons' - although I used the term New Robber Barons as you recall.  It takes a while for reality to sink into the public arena and begin to ferment ... but it is moving more quickly now that Woke Has Fallen.

One at a time ... one at a time... the bleach blindness will wane from the eyes of they who refuse to see once they work out they can't afford bleach any more .... and once Woke has been cremated, dead and buried - the civilised world will start looking at the other parasites and vultures destroying it and those in it.

Hey - you Yanks!  You threw out the Brits over 'taxation without representation' - how come you are willing to pay your billions in tithes - a form of hidden tax whereby the dollars vanish offshore by the shipload - to these robber barons hiding in tax havens who are raping your economy and thus your lifestyle?  If they don't pay the taxes - you do - so it's taxation without any chance of representation!!  Y'all need a New Revolution...

How the wheels of history turn ....

That's an infantile comprehension of democratic power and its constitutional separation among the legislative, executive, and judicial.

You've got to stop seeing the truth and facts as a campaign against you.

It's not.

You've just chosen to believe and align with bullshit.

When that bullshit is called out, it's not a personal attack, it's just reality knocking on your door.

By all means, continue to ignore it, you do it constantly, but it doesn't make you a victim of a plot against you, it just makes you a gullible moron who prefers to live in a safe space of misinformation than confront the truth that what you believe may not be true.

It's funny you'll go on about lefties projecting when you and those like you are the biggest snowflakes of all with more safe spaces than a pussyhat-wearing social justice warrior, while being so quick to accuse others of needing a safe space.

It's hilarious how pathetic you've become, in victory no less...

As it turns out, Eisenhower's final address was not only gravely sombre in its tone regarding the industrial-military complex, it was also prescient in that he saw the future long after his death.

"In holding scientific discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy [i.e. democratic institutions] could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."

And here arises the first of our difficulties, and it relates to the distinction drawn. For democracy is said to be the government of the many. But what if the many are men of property and have the power in their hands? Tyranny, as I was saying, is monarchy exercising the rule of a master over the political society; oligarchy is when men of property have the government in their hands; democracy, the opposite, when the indigent, and not the men of property, are the rulers. And here arises the first of our difficulties, and it relates to the distinction drawn. For democracy is said to be the government of the many. But what if the many are men of property and have the power in their hands? In like manner oligarchy is said to be the government of the few; but what if the poor are fewer than the rich, and have the power in their hands because they are stronger?
Aristotle, Politics, book 3.

So, according to Aristotle, you must already be a man of property before you can become an oligarch.

No doubt even in ancient Greece, you could also be a man of property and not an oligarch.

Oligarch means a few rich individuals have the government in their hands. Democracy means rule by the many, the poor.

in the 21st century, democratic rule includes more than the poor - i.e. the unpropertied, in Aristotlean speak.

Unpropertied = poor.

So, those who rent, or lease are poor in the 21st century?

Who is master of the skies?
Blue Origin will be delighted to have achieved its core goal of getting Bezos in orbit for the first time.
'It failed to land its booster onto the landing platform, but that was a "nice to have" rather than essential part of this mission.
It throws down a challenge to Jeff Bezos's rival Elon Musk as the two men fight for dominance in space.'
World dominance is where Trump wants to be but may not get.

What bozo angle is THAT?

No. Some renters are mega rich. If I were mega rich I wouldn't buy anything, I would just live in the Ritz around the world.

What kind of moronic gotcha are you angling for in your usual gauche way?

Aww Agatha Frank (they/them) sitting on a bottle of Queensland Farmer again.

And some renters, like nearly all of them, are not mega-rich... and not poor.

Head Of Crime Family Warns About Dangers Of Corruption

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a stirring farewell address to the nation, the notorious head of a prolific crime family warned America about the clear and present danger of government corruption.

"Folks, we can't have any of this corruption in government," said the man who had enriched himself off corruption during his half a century in office. "It's dangerous, I mean it. If Trump takes office and lets Elon glurbdren thu flazzgrizzerbs, obwaltshuuun dorble Vivek clamshirr."

The wealthy oligarch then warned the nation what might happen if America is run by oligarchs. "I shudder to think of what could happen to our democracy," he said. "I'm out of teddy grahams. Someone get me more teddy grahams and apple juice. Jill! JILL!"

According to sources close to the owner of 20 Ukrainian money-laundering shell corporations, Biden plans to live his final few weeks of life quietly on the beach, funded by the hundreds of millions of dollars amassed by his family.

"We should all listen to this dire warning from one of America's most noble and dignified presidents," said commentator Joy Reid. "No one would know better than him."

At publishing time, Hunter Biden was reportedly having trouble getting a Chinese oligarch to return his phone calls.

What makes Musk a oligarch?.

He seems to have inserted himself into the political process or attempted to for his own benefit across a number of countries. He seems to be wanting to take the place of the Murdoch family only more so. Murdoch seems to have wanted the power and influence I don't really see the same personal profit motive though I could be wrong.

Well, it is about money and power, but not for more servants and yachts...

The tech bros are scrambling for the next-generation technology required to run the AI of the next decade.

The infrastructure complexity required to create chips at less than 2 nanometres requires funding for research, production then ready-for-use, costing in the hundreds of billions.

This is the story going on the left leaning side of the media. But I have seen nothing to believe it.

If I was given options on people to listen to and get advice Musk would be up there, you would be a fool not to hear what he thinks. I'm not saying he knows it all but he has his finger on the pulse.

If you mean that there is an oligarchy in operation, then of course you haven't... Trump isn't in power yet.

Given even Eisenhower warned against a scientific-tech oligarchy in 1961, it isn't even a new concept.

Yes old enough, worked in plenty of situations where it was necessary.

One important part of a productive workplace is the right amount of leaders and followers. A lot of companies hire too many go getters and they end up with a bottleneck at the top.

Tell you something else I'm old enough to know. In the government services you get promoted until you are incompetent. You do a good job you move up, again you do a good job and up you go. Finally you are promoted to a position you don't do very well, you don't get promoted anymore and you stay in a position you don't do very well.

Perfect warning to a genuine danger.  Well done Mr President.

The last President before a 4 year presidential void with an illegitimate pretender.

Yes old enough, worked in plenty of situations where it was necessary.

One important part of a productive workplace is the right amount of leaders and followers. A lot of companies hire too many go getters and they end up with a bottleneck at the top.

Most go getters are either good communicators or good politicians they are almost never good workers.

Its all semantics isn't it, plodders don't like go getters.

No lots of people do the job well but don't do sell themself well while other sell themself very well without actually doing much. It is a solid trend in most businesses.

I knew one guy who would start working politically at his next job up the ladder as soon as he moved into his current position, He never actually did the job he was being paid to do. It worked for him Management thought he was terrific everyone else knew he was doing nothing.

3 of us went on a training course we were not qualified to attend. we didn't have the base product knowledge for upgrade training. We came out of it with no useable knowledge. I asked the guys if they got anything from it. The guy who was a good tech got the same as me (nothing) the politician got all he needed - He openly said that he got enough buzz words to be able to impress anyone in upper management. He had no intention or ability to actually support the product. He got the politics.

Doesn't sound like a productive workplace.

I have found the exact same sort of thing happening in every business I ever worked in private or public.

Good efficient workers are different from plodders. People who rely on communication skills and politics are often embraced by management but they are also the least likely to do the job well. You run into this business dynamic a lot.

You worked - That's a surprise.

I always topped the list of jobs completed and productivity. It was never me.
