Title: Say you came into serious money. Why would you do?

Ok I’m talking big money.
A million buys you a McMansion in seven hills of Sydney now days.

I’m talking F/ off money.

I believe it’s poor form too start a thread with a question without giving your own answer.

Me. I’d go to work the next day and likely months and quite possibly just stay anyway.
I would put a pebble in one of my shoes to cause constant irritation and keep a smile of my face.

I’d also reach out to professional $$ advisors.

I’m actually pretty happy with what I got so nothing on the surface I would want to change.

I’d want to invest conservatively.

Now this is the big question?
Would you share your windfall?

For myself definitely but in such manner no family member or friend knew the $$$ was a gift from myself.

This could be difficult but I’m rich and employ people to do it for me😂.

Dress an accountant up as a cow , knock on their door, sign here, his a million dollars straight in your bank account!

Could probably even get a production team too film it and after there costs make a profit if it’s a reality tv hit.

Charity is difficult.

I recently supported two charities with a small donation and have calculated the amount of follow up calls from these charities has cost far more than my donation.

I would support friends of the pounds organisation’s Australian wide instead.

Given professional advice agreement I would work quickly to remove the money overseas.

So what would you do?

this stuff sh1ts me

I used to donate $1000 every year to the lifesavers .... for a couple of years it was fine. Once a year, after all my taxes and everything were done I'd send them a cheque. Then they started calling. At first it was every 3 months, which was only just bearable. Then after a period of time they started calling every month. I told them repeatedly to stop calling, that they wouldn't get any extra from me apart from my annual donation. They just kept calling until i told them that if they called me one more time, they would never receive another cent from me. They called again and I haven't given them anything in 20 yrs now.

Now I only donate to charities that don't need my details.

Indeed. I was a regular donor to a couple of charities but over the last few years the constant emails asking for more and more have caused me to rethink. How much have these charities lost because of their aggressive marketing?

I'd have to take it to the police and describe what happened.
