Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left the White House just moments ago after a shouting match with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance in front of the media in the Oval Office.

He departed without signing the minerals deal and without holding the joint news conference with Trump, as was earlier planned.

He did not speak to the media before departing in his motorcade.

they have lost maybe half a million people and many cities are demolished -
like Mariupol.
If it goes on more people will die and maybe the whole of Ukraine will be demolished.

Of course Ukraine is losing. They're a much smaller military but they've done an astonishing job of defending their country. But here's the thing that Trump - and apparently you also - seem to have forgotten. Zelenskyy didn't start this war. He's doing the best he can to defend his country. Well, it is terrible.   To have the backing of US, and 'peace', Ukraine have to sign away much of its mineral wealth to 'repay' the US without security guarantee.  Who knows, when all the mines are empty, the US would just leave anyway by the way this is going. 

I am afraid, if I am in that situation.  I may just work out a deal with Putin instead, and just become a vassal state to Russia.  Russia believes Ukraine and its people are part of Russia anyway, and most Ukrainians speaks Russian.   That way, they at least get to keep some mineral wealth.  And at least a cease fire long enough to rebuild the whole country.    Why bend my knees at US?

You are living in the same bizzaro alternate reality as Trump and Vance. Trump is unhappy with Zelenskyy for not just signing away his natural resources to Trump. Trump is not happy with Zelenskyy for not just signing a "peace" deal that gives Russia everything it wants at the expense of the Ukrainian people. There can't be a ceasefire while Putin murders innocent Ukrainian civilians. He needs to withdraw his troops from Ukrainian territory. An interesting test of Trump's popularity will soon arise: do the American people agree with Trump's  stance on the Ukraine war.

"War is for losers" - as Trump once said, let's see if the public agree with him.

The true issue is what choice has Ukraine?

You can't have a sane conversation - much less a negotiation - with a supremely arrogant narcissist like Trump. Any negotiation will invariably be about Trump, not Ukraine, and how it will make him look. To be clear, Trump couldn't care less about Ukraine. Is Trump stopping them from doing that, what steps is Europe taking now after three years, what are they doing to stop the killing. What options have Europe put forward?

The US was insisting on a diplomatic solution that it never landed.

One very important point, despite not having press credentials or approved access, Russian State Media were in the Oval office to live stream it on Russian state TV. 

Sky News UK called them out as they recognised them, at which point they alerted the Trump team who after the attempted bullying session, pantomimed them being escorted out.

Ask yourself, how do Russians without any clearance or press credentials make their way to a prime position in the most secure room of the White House, unless they were invited and given access? You have to go trhough multiple security checkpoints and be known to security.

Can we stop pretending that Trump isn't a Russian asset now?

I think it'll happen within the next 12 months, depending on when any deal with Ukraine and Russia materialises if Trump keeps going the way he's going and Zelenskyy capitulates. There will be stiff resistance from Taiwan, as they have a much more advanced and better trained military than Ukraine. It will take time to overcome Taiwanese military forces, hence why they will want to start sooner rather than later while Trump is still President. They will not want to risk being at war with Taiwan when a Democrat comes to office.

Zelenskyy is right to want security guarantees. He is also right to want NATO membership. Without either or both, Russia will invade again and be better prepared the third time around.

Ukraine has every right to defend itself against Russia invading its territory. No sane person would expect otherwise. I would expect our PM to defend our country from an invasion by another country. Nothing controversial about that.

Trump is right to insist on ending war, in the age of MAD.

But he is misled  by Musk re "cutting the deficit to prevent the US going broke"  (the US governement - issuer of the US dollar -  cannot go broke, though it can mismanage its resources, which is a different thing altogether). Tariffs might reduce the US budget deficit but they will increase inflation and cause a global recession.

NATO troops have had 3 years to decide if they
want to go to Ukraine – boots on the ground -
and kick the Russians out but they have declined.

It means that Ukraine is in a very bad position.
I believe that Zelensky should have signed – even a terrible deal -
just to get a cease fire – to stop the war now.
