warning: clipboard access

It is possible for a website to access whatever was most recently copied onto your clipboard. This could be a password or private information. You can block this by going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Select a security zone > Custom Level > Scripting > Allow paste operations via script and set it to Disabled or Prompt.

A member claimed that this forum tried to access his clipboard while posting a message. The managers of OzPolitic have not installed any scripts to access your clipboard or collect that information. However, the forum software is standard 'off the shelf' freeware and it may do so. I am investigating why this might happen at the moment. In any case, you should have it disabled or set to prompt, otherwise any site you visit can get at that information, even if you don't post anything.

If you are using IE7, then the option is called "Allow Programmatic clipboard access" rather than allow paste operations....

Some of the other browser types are safe from this.

I've found out why it is happening. When you hit submit or preview, it copies the contents of your post to your clipboard before it does anything else. That way if you get an error or something crashes and your post doesn't go up, you can resubmit it without typing it out again, by pasting it. The next version of yabb will have this as an option, via another check box at the bottom of the submit page. For the moment, just disable it as described above, or enable it if you want the feature working and are happy to trust the people who make yabb. IE7 users will have it set to 'prompt' by default, which would get annoying very quickly.

I have access to a patch that will disable clipboard access for IE7 users by default, and leave it enabled for earlier version IE users (it is currently enabled for all users). It also adds a checkbox to allow users to enable or disable it when composing a post.

If anyone wants it installed just let me know.

Hi, could you please do me a favour and tell me how the tabs appear on your PC? that is, do the have the rounded edges? The one on the left is how the home page looks from here, and the one on the right how the forum looks:

Also, is the background cream or pink?

On my 'puter, the Tabs at the top of both the Forums and the Home menu/nav bar both look like the right side of your image, i.e. "square", and the selected item has the same pink/cream color as the board's background border.

Have you uploaded your code changes to the server?  Smiley
