REFUGEES

85 sri lankan illegal immigrants are currently being held on a naval ship near xmas island.
They were spotted by air in a small wooden boat headed for Australia.
They will be sent to Nauru for processing.

Processing! PROCESSING! Send the bastards back. its not like we have room here for them!
As far as i know, sri lanka is not in a war. And if they are claiming poverty, why dont they get off their arses and do something for their country. I dunno, work at dilmah or something. or does china own that now?

Until the processing begins, we really have no idea why they are here. Don't believe everything you read in the papers.

I find it difficult to imagine that a person wouldn't be desperate to climb into an overcrowded rickety boat just for the fun of coming to Australia.

Don't worry Aussie Nationalist - Howard will make sure they are sent to Nauru - never to be heard of again.

Probably pakistan more like, sri lanka is highly islamic. And if they are hindu, then yes india is better suited. If we got rid of the welfare system i wonder if they'd still come here!
Other than that though, if i became a ''refugee'' in this country, i'd go to a western country aswell, but not because of the welfare system but to be with my own kind. WHITE PEOPLE! I aint movin to no 3rd world country to live with the ENEMY!

Probably. Islam has an expansionalist mindset, which is perhaps what gets them in so many wars. Hence, immigrants.

I wish i could put my family crest on here, it's center peice has one of my ancestors on the back of a horse holding the decapitated head of a turk in one hand and sword in the other! I LOVE IT!

Wrong again Aussie Nationalist, Sri Lanka is actually majority buddist, who make up about 70% of the total population. the muslim population in Sri Lanka is quite small as they only make up about 7% of Sri Lanka's population.

Despite Sri Lanka being a majority buddist country, they are also in the midst of a civil war. Civil wars occur in several countries and religion isn't always the cause of it, for example the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka are a secular movement that wants to have their own independent state in the Tamil majority regions in the north and east of Sri Lanka.
