Open for business--
Apr 26th, 2007 at 4:03pm

I was asked by a poster yesterday what constitues a good relationship?

Well as Im not an expert on relationships I thought I would throw the question open for all to give theyre opinions.

A couple of ideas I have.

1. Understanding.

2. Flexibiltiy.

3. Sexual compatibility-essential.

thoughts anyone?

Is it essential to have common goals?

This is a little confusing - I mean yes we should want roughly the same things-house and kids are 2 that need a common agreement-

But I think because we are married we should not lose all of our personal freedom. That is essential. Otherwise we become stifled and stressed ----- after a while health problems can set in due to suppression of resentments etc.

Relationships are great to dream about for those who are young and ideological, but after many years the rot sets in.

Most of the dreams get nipped in the bud somewhere along the way, and as you get older you look for something different.

If I had to name any quality that I would look for in a partner, it would be a comfortable companionship and acceptance.  As we get older, all the other fantasies we have aspired to are too difficult and unrealistic to achieve long term.

I  have a relationship with my doctor and I have never had an urge to bugger him.   So I guess we could say we are not sexually compatible - for which I am grateful.

Is your definition restricted to love only or the relationship you have with your mates too?

Someone who laughs a lot is important for me.

Except when they see me naked, that is.
Then they are meant to swoon or something  Wink

Interesting picture and comments - Scaly.  Obviously you are trying to say something here, but are having difficulty articulating it.

Let's hear your version on what you think a relationship constitutes - possibly you have an expert opinion from your "real life" experiences.

I would be very interested to hear your views.

Obviously I am trying to say you may be slightly bitter, possibly from a failed relationship. My articulation is fine. Maybe your comprehension needs a little work?  Tongue

Charming response Scaly - is that the best gesture you can make?  Oh I forgot - it is.

Oceans and I asked you a question which you haven't answered so it appears you have no experience in that area.

In regard to being slightly bitter - aren't most of us who have been in and out of relationships - or should we all adopt the starry, wide eyed ideology of a teenager?

Perhaps just lose the vitriol? If I could pick it up in a post on the Internet, imagine the vibes you send out to those around you?

Another inaccurate interpretation, but believe what you want.  Obviously you are here to create bad feelings and have a go at me - so do your best Mel.

hang in there mantra..I have it under control.
